i cant see anyway that danny keeps his job. i dont know when it will happen but, it will. he will not be here next season.

i want to be happy about the prospect of danny not being around anymore but, i cant.

first. i dont think he is a bad person. i believe he is a good man. he is just a guy who is in over his head. he has taken a lot of heat and for the on the field performances, its deserved.

he does not deserve everything he has gotten and i will toss my hat in the ring of being personal at times. fair is fair. that was not really needed.

i believe he did do his best. he brought in a couple of good to great recruiting classes. he did that because he cared.

now.... to the point. i feel bad. not only for dan (to a point) and his wife. they definitly didnt want any of this when he took this job. i really feel for his wife.

but, i really feel for the kids. so many of them came to the U of Colorado with such great potential. great talent. talent that was wasted year over year. either by a lack of ability from the coaching staff to develop the talent, to putting the kids into a position to win. a lot of those kids could have chosen other schools and had much more productive and rewarding careers for thier college experience.

but, they chose the Buffs. as the season winds down. lets make sure that we understand that the kids are doing what they can with what they have. what is going to happen with the coaches will happen. but, we want these kids involved in the program for years to come because they are Buffs!!!

dan didnt work out. he is not a bad person. he brought a lot of good and talented kids to boulder. kids that did what they could with what they were given. that includes cody.

i hope that CU and Dan part ways and both are better off for it. i hope that the kids get a good life lesson from all of this and get a coach who will allow them to reach thier full potential and make CU a contender again.

im not happy about any of it. i feel for the hawkins family and i feel for the kids that have spent the last 2 to 5 years with him.

i hope dan lands on his feet and i hope the U of Colorado comes back stronger for this experience and that the kids learn a whole **** load about how the real world works. everyone will be better off for it.

i thougt all of that on my way to bet a burg..... damnit!!!! burrito.

most of all, the kids deserve a chance at winning and a coach who can develope thier potential to its fullest extent and put them in a position to win so they get the most out of thier time at the U of Colorado.

That sermon deserves a sound track.

Maybe Pomp & Circumstance

Or Taps

Or The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

I wonder what Tyler hansen and all the other players that were jerked around believe he is.

I dont feel sorry for DII Danny one bit. If he would have puled his head out of his ass for just one second maybe he could have figured out a few things. He came in to CU as an arrogant prick and over promised and under delivered. He is still arrogant and behaves if he is the only one who has the answers. It will be a great day in CU history when he is dismissed. And I could care less about how the Hawkins family feels...they had their shot and now they will have to move on.

I agree, don't feel bad for Dan at all. He gets paid a lot of money for this exposure, when he came here he was talking about how he wanted to face the doubters. How he could have stayed in Boise and lived the golden life, but he wanted the challenges faced here. Well he got exactly what he was gunning for. He got $$$$ and the opportunity to return a program to prominence. He failed.

I do feel bad for the kids. Bowl games are fun. Extending your season is fun. Extra practices and games in December/January in a warm weather area are great. It makes all the work in the offseason worth while and also gives you something to work that much harder for in the summertime so you can do it again. They chose to be Buffaloes, and be a part of this turnaround. They fell for our Coach's talk just like we did when we hired him.

I hope against hope that they get to a bowl game this year. I am pretty sure it won't happen though....Come on Buffs! Can't you win for yourselves?

I think Danny's a good guy in general but he REALLY lost respect with his ridiculous statements about CU being terrible shape when he got it, how his friends told him not to take the job, etc, etc, etc. Basically his mouth wrote a bunch of checks his ability couldn't cash.

CU has failed on the field because D-2 Danny isn't a BCS coach who can effectively recruit BCS quality players, related to them and get the most out of their ability, while gameplanning/scheming against some of the better coaches our former league had to offer.

Good luck to him, but he should be fired. Quicker if possible so we can salvage this recruiting cycle.

i agree he's probably a good guy but the way he went from "believing" he would win an NC at CU to lobbying for his team GPA and "doing things the right way" over the years was pretty shoddy rhetoric masking the losing. not something that was ever convincing to me.

i also remember his pre-NU radio show last year after it was announced he would be retained.....and it was absurd. he made the argument, basically, that because they hadn't had success it proved he was a good coach....proof of his "funky way of doing things" (direct quote). totally implausible.

my first memory of Hawk (and i loved the hire at the time) was thinking "man, this guy likes to talk about himself". and then on his blog, him acting like he was the only person on earth who had ever listened to Van Morrison and trying to turn ya on to VM. wha?

the Hawkins Total Access Show in 06 was the weirdest, most meglomaniacal show ever. long, hard to watch segments of Hawk giving post-game orations while the players are looking at the ceiling or their shoes. I imagine a future where video of those shows will be the best dark comedy ever for Buff fans...after we RTD (again).

One of his worst attributes is that he is too myopic. Nice guys usually finish last.

look. i dont feel sorry for dan. i feel bad for him. there is a difference.

for example, when i was at another airline as a new hire, my training partner did not make it through training. not because he could not fly the airplane, but because he was completely incapable of understanding the automation of the airplane and making the proper callouts when needed. the last straw literally came down to pushing a button. when we had to do a go around, he would never push the go around button that would put the FMS, thrust levers and flight director into go around mode. during that last sim, we tried it 4 times in a row. he never pushed the button. that was unacceptable. i felt bad for him. not sorry for him. he had no business being in the cockpit of an automated airliner. just the way it is.

now, if he had done everything right and the instructor didnt like him and sunk him, then i would feel sorry for him.

difference there.

dan is like my buddy in training. he just can not figure it out. money is not the issue. sure, he is now a very rich man. however, not all men are driven by money. i dont think dan is. sure, he has peace of mind financially and that is a place we would all like to be. however, im sure he never wanted to lose and lose as badly as he did. there is no price one can put on that. not when its your profession. just like my training partner. well, he never stood a chance at getting rich at that airline, his failure in training at his chosen career was something that money could not buy.

however, both will get another chance. hopefully both are better off for the experience. i will say it again. he is not a bad man. just out of his league. granted, he is a wealthy man now. so what? i dont think he came to the U of C to fail and get rich. he came here to win and could not get it done. that will stay with him.

feel sorry for him? no. feel bad for him? yes. i hate him as the coach of the U of C. i dont hate him as a person.

YMMV and i understand that. that is just what i see from my corner and given my life experiences that give me this perspective. he will be gone at the end of the season and im all over that!

Why does anyone ****ing feel bad for him? He's made a ****ton of money assraping our school's program and destroying every shred of relevance we had -- all the while showing ZERO admission that he doesn't have a ****ing clue as to what he's doing. **** him. **** him in the heart.

It's not personal. It's strictly business.

I think Hawk may want to return to California. Or at least somewhere near there.

...but he probably can't be too picky with where he ends up.

The signs are there that it is already done.

They have taken away his juicebox budget and he is now having to use packages of kool-aid and add his own sugar instead to save money!

Bohn also took his lunchpail and hardhat away, oh! and his salt, so now he's just an earth guy.
