Reported by someone who claims the Hansen family asked him to post it. Ruptured spleen has Tyler out 4-6 weeks. Season is done.

Karma sent. Get well, Tyler. Be ready to have a big senior year under real coaching.

Edit: I missed the other Rivals post. Tyler's brother was the first to report this news. It's legit.

Damn, that sucks if true. Wishing Tyler a speedy recovery! Hope team & fans will rally around Cody

I will wait till we see something official... at halftime I saw Hansen on the field throwing to see how he felt... I have never ruptured a spleen, but I would imagine you would know for sure that you can't go.

Hopefully Cody plays inspired ball and takes us to a bowl

After all the ducks and overthrowns I saw from him yesterday, plus the ****tiest playcalling ever, I have no hope. I will be surprised if we win two more games.

Kansas is our best shot, it's on the road and we haven't won a road game in 3 years, but Kansas is just THAT bad. They are terrbile, worse than us, and thats saying a lot!

Kansas state is our best remaining home chance. Only because it's at home. Although I have to think that if Tech and Baylor can beat us in Boulder, K-state certainly can as well.

Iowa state is impressive. If they can beat Texas in Austin and NU in Lincoln (last year), then they can beat us here, probably easily.

Oklahoma and Nebraska, I give us no shot in hell!

best wishes to Tyler.

fwiw: Cody and the Bs beat then #3 Okie. A repeat?

Go Buffs

actually.. peter forsberg ruptured his spleen during a hockey game... and didnt realize it til 3 am the next morning... that said the 4-6 week recovery sounds like a laceration... a rupture would normally require a splenectomy ..

This truly sucks. Since it can lead to life threatening blood loss I hope he is being adequately and properly treated. Karma sent to Tyler. Get well TH.

And didn't Chris Simms actually FINISH a game after ruptuiring his?

Anyway, best wishes for a speedy recovery to you Tyler - karma sent. Can't wait to see you next year leading the silver and gold on the field.

OK, Cody here we go. Senior Captain coming in off the bench after the starter goes down. Rally Buff Nation like you did your sophomore year. I'm pulling for ya, end your senior year and career at CU on a high note and prove all us internet sCUm wrong!

Philosophical question: did Chris Simms EVER finish a game?

Is the spleen one of those body parts people can do with out? I have mostly heard of ruptured spleens as a result of car accidents.

Good luck to Hansen

Yes, and his life was in danger

Get well Tyler, too bad a medical redshirt is out of the question

BuffNut, I hope you weren't inferring that I thought I wanted Tyler to "play through it." NO WAY! Health is much more important than any football game/season. I wish Tyler well in a full and speedy recovery, and take ALL the time needed to get well again.
I was just trying to emphasize BCS' earlier point about how spleen injuries aren't sometimes detected until a long time after they actually happened - Chris Simms being a good example.

You can live without it....I think it helps control infections that attack the body.

Fitting the Hawkins era started around Cody in yr 2 and will finish with him in yr 5. IMO, largely his largest failure as it scared off a lot of QB prospects.

really highlander... thats just an unnecessary comment... the kid got hurt badly... we dont need any hawk or cody bashing in this thread...

Not at all - I was just adding that in Simms' case, his spleen injury was life-threatening, I remember hearing that another 45 minutes with an emergency procedure would have killed him.
