one good thing with the morining practices is we'll get one more "awesome" tuesday practice for our money....

This is probably a "little thing," but it should just be Boomer Sooner played OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER.

Anyone know where they could rent a schooner to get pulled all over the practice field by a team of horses?

One of my favorite Mac era memories was the Schooner tipping over. It took a sharp turn, caught an edge of one of the wagon wheels on the turf, and over she went. Nothing like a bunch of land thieves flying through the air for a laugh or two....

I remember that lol. Man there was some terrible turf everywhere back then.

no kidding. when i was a kid, we'd sneak into Folsom and throw the football around.....it was like putt putt...a thing layer of green furr over concrete. get some nasty turf burns and strawberries (scabs with a lot of pus.....resisting my urge to type pus-y scabs). YWIA.

That was not with Mac, but with Nue.

Is there any other way?

Boomer Sooner will be played more times than OU puts points on the board.

Yes it was long ago. We knocked their QB out with a concussion and after the game, OU was told they had to replace the turf. So they painted it to look like the Jets and filmed that Mark W. move about the walk on player.

Played a HS game in Folsom in the late 70's. Got a great hit on a guy and we both went to the turf with me on top of him. The surface was so hard I could feel that it didn't have any give even landing on him. Must have really hurt to be on the recieving end of the tackle. The guy seemed to try to avoid getting hit like that the rest of the game. After the game I hurt all over from hitting the turf along with losing some skin. I also remember a lot of guys catching their feet on the turf and turning ankles under. Loved the stadium, even empty but that field sucked to play on.

I played a game at Ratliff before they fixed the turf and it was like playing tackle on pavement. I wore long sleeves under my pads but it didnt do much good lol.

I think you are wrong. I think the Schooner tipped in 1993 when Renfro slammed Gundy so hard to the turf, they had to replace divots... McCartney was still here in 1993.

The 1995 game waqs Neu v. Schnellenberger... but that game has an asterisk by it :smile2:

The first time Mac beat OU at Folsom he lit a torch after the game in that old shoe box white cinder block locker room - the players said that they thought the whole place might go up in flames.

I don't remember who our coach was, I think it was Neu cause we had not beat OU in Norman in several years.

The schooner tipped over and it tore the astroturf and they used duct tape to fix it. I think it was before the game even started, during player introductions.

Think it was Mac in that game because, if memory serves, Neu beat them on a natural grass field. Think the Neu game was like 38-24 or 34-17, something like that.
