ATHENS, Ga. -- The Bulldogs didn't fumble this time. Georgia -- a last-second loser in football at Folsom Field earlier this fall -- held on for a 83-74 victory over Colorado Tuesday night on the Stegeman Coliseum hardwood.

Well that's a serious letdown. I know it's still early, but that didn't look line a tourney team to me.

I'm pretty upset about that game, but it's still too early to really jump to any conclusions. So far I haven't been too impressed with Tad.

as i said in another thread, cant shoot 20% from three and hope to win on the road.

was georgia supposed to be good this year? Seems like a bad loss to me.

Yes Georgia is supposed to be good this year. Most preseason publications have them going to the tourney. We must win games like these, but it isn't a bad loss, if that makes sense.

Some people have Georgia as a sleeper in the SEC. They looked pretty good, especially without one of their best players in Trey Thompkins. The Bulldogs have size inside (which killed CU) and they also have pretty athletic guards. Mark Fox is turning around that program. All that said I still believe the Buffs could have won this won. The Buffs were so sloppy down the stretch.

I would agree that I am pretty upset as well, that game was definatly winable. But as far as not being to impressed with Tad, I dont agree.

Yes Tad Boyle isnt Bob Knight, but lets keep in mind he is having everyone play a completly different style game then they played before. I think this is very evident, and more than anything Tad is just trying to get them to up the tempo. This is a complete change, keep in mind Tad didnt recruit these kids, he has only been working with them for a few months. If Tad cannot get through to the players towards the end of the season, and at the latest next year, I will completly agree with you. But right now I am still excited about Tad, from recuitment, basketball theory, and energy he is bringing.

I think the players he is recuiting will fit his program a lot better than the current team. I dont think Relephorde, Shane Harris-Tunks, or Dufault fit into Tad system as well as he would like. Not to say they are not good players, they are great players, they are just more Bz's prinston style then Tads high energy style.

Tad should do well with this team, Bz did leave us in pretty good shape. If I remember correctly everyone was talking about going to the NCAA Tourney during the preseason.

Can't dig a 17 point hole on the road. Buffs did a great job to fight back, but never could capitalize and pull ahead in the second half. This team has a lot of work to do. @ San Francisco is a potential land mine, Buffs need to be ready.

Agree to an extent, although I will admit I was drinking a ton of Kool-Aid before Harris-Tunks got hurt. Defensively it's obvious there will be a big learning curve. Both Higgins and Burks need to stop playing so much one on one and pass the ball. Both also need to look to rebound more often. Relphorde just looks lost. This team has a ways to go before conference season starts.

Until CU can find some quality big men, they will struggle. CU played 6 guards and 3 fwds tonight. Is the 7-0 freshman ready to play at all?

Tough to win games when you can't find the bottom of the basket.

I was watching at the beginning of the game and it was Georgia 22 - Colorado 10!

They gotta shoot better than that. Especially if they are going to play an up-tempo offense. Gotta make shots.

we looked pretty solid minus the first and last 5 minutes of the game. for the most part. sadly, those count. UGA is pretty athletic and ran us ragged in stretches in transition and the two "can't miss a 3" set of possessions to open the game and take the 2-3 possession lead towards the end.

was disappointed in our decision making with the ball. i don't know if Higgins is just the consummate role player but he seems to get lost a lot of the time for a player as good as he is....compared to Burks tendency to go 1 on 5 at times. i liked our "energy" on the glass, but lost a lot of contested balls.

maybe it's just because he's tall but Tad's arm waving around out of the bench area had a Crazy Joe Harrington feel to it at times.

these are the kinds of games you have to win with an OOC like ours (fairly soft) to get off the bubble, were it to be so.

i'm not reading too much into this one (if only because i wanted to win badly and it's the consolation of philosophy here....) but we play Gonzaga and U of A "close" to open last year as well. so, not sure what that means....but, we need to get over the hump against someone to take the next step.

My main points I took from the game:

1) Composure. I was impressed at the come back from the the deficit. No one panicked and everyone kept playing their own game.
2) One on One. Too much one on one from Higgins and Burks. We have other guys who can make shots and play, that much is evident. Pass the rock.
3) Defense. I thought the defense was good a times and horrific at others. Help defense is a real problem for this team right now. Too many easy buckets down low for UGA.
4) Size. Georgia absolutely killed us inside. Not sure how we mask this.

With the above written, I felt the offensive flow from CU was not bad. It seems like they are still learning the system both offensively and defensively. Hopefully in 5 - 10 games we will see improvements, especially on help defense.

Let's not forget that this was a team that won exactly 1 road game last season (at an awful Nebraska).

We need to get over the hump against San Fran. If we do, we can chalk this Georgia loss up as a learning experience and put it behind us.

How good is this SF team we are looking at?

I liked the resiliency shown by our guys in a tough cross-country game. I think Georgia is on the up and up too.

Right. Still too early to jump to any conclusions.

We whipped them last year. But they were good enough to steal a win against Gonzaga.

Basically, a below average mid-major team that can rise up on a given night.

SF won their first game against Seattle U. by a bunch. they play @San Jose State tonight. maybe know more tomorrow, no idea about SJSU as good or crap. SF's yahoo sports page lists 18 players on the roster, weird. i was looking to see if that Texas Tech transfer, Dior Lowhorn, still played for them. he doesn't.
