I noticed Stanford has three running back commitments ranked in the top 16 nationally by Rivals, and call it a hunch, but I'm thinking EB flips one of them by the end of January. They are:

#10 - Amir Carlisle from Sunnyvale,CA - 4*
#12 - Kelsey Young from Norco, CA - 4*
#16 - Remound Wright from Fort Wayne, IN - 4*
They also have #39 - Jordan Perkins from Lodi, CA - 3*

Having signed Wilkerson in 2010 following Gaffney and Taylor in 2009 (all 4* RBs), I have trouble seeing how Stanford needs 4 RBs in the current class.

I agree. Now we won't be able to get the athletes that go to Bama or Auburn because of the ease it is to get in but that shouldn't stop us from getting good athletes. I think you're right OP about that with EB coaching AP in the NFL.

There is more than enough space for us to carve our niche and climb back to the top of the mountain. I still maintain that the Utah's/TCU's/Boise's of the world are merely inhabiting the area where our squad used to be in the polls. There's a reason we were there once. We just need to start having some success, building the program back up, piece by piece, and winning again. If we do that, we will get back to where we were. No doubt. I think Embree is on the right track.

Stanford is a testimony to building the team the right way, playing physical and having fun. People want to be a part of that. Having a good school, academically doesn't hurt us, it only helps us sell the institution so we should use it as a blessing, not a curse. It will be more palatable to approach it when matched up with fellow Pac 12 schools.

true...but sometimes, you just get kids as athletes, telling them you're recruiting them at a certain position but knowing deep inside that they'll switch positions. That's what we did with Moten at QB. Even if you don't actually intend to switch a kid's position, they do it due to playing time - like Polk.

RB being a skill position, can have kids move from there to many other places on the field. DJ Williams was a top RB in HS before moving to LB at the U. I'm pretty confident that Hypolite started as a FB. There are many examples of this.

With all that said, I would still like for the staff to go after AMM. Sure, he may not have the breakaway speed, but if things dont work out as a powerback, then teach him middle LB? He's a football player, and we need some football players. This may be Stanford's thinking in signing all of these kids - they're football players, and if they can't fight their way onto the field as a RB, they'll be given a few other options - DB, LB.

FWIW, Carlisle has been looking around for a while. Not sure he has much interest in the Buffs, but it would not be a shock to see him sign with Notre Dame.

Minnesota All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson issued a statement Monday about the relationship he has built with Bieniemy during the first four years of his career.

“EB has helped me so much over the past four years." Peterson said. "He helped me grow as a player and as a man and has been important to me off the field as much as on it. He brings tremendous passion and his background as a player makes you listen to him close. He wants the best for all his players and treats everyone equally. Going to Colorado is a great opportunity for him and I know how strongly he feels about Colorado. They’re getting a great coach who is going to help them return to the glory days they had when he was a player there"
