The Wyoming-Colorado series dates back to Jan. 13, 1908. The two schools have played a total of 73 times through the years, but they haven't played the past three seasons. The last meeting was a 73-64 Wyoming win on Dec. 8, 2007, in Laramie. Wyoming leads the overall series with 39 wins against 34 losses to CU.

2011-12 - Boulder
2012-13 - Laramie
2013-14 - Boulder
2014-15 - Laramie

I love seeing this. Glad we're getting it going again next season.

Good job, Tad!

Should help get some butts in the seats for our home games. Good idea to play the local area schools before conference play to build interest in the program.

Woot! I also support this idea. More interest = more $$$$. However, we need to get 2 more games in this series so we can have an overall winning % against them. Come on guys, a losing record against Wyoming?!?!?!?!:facepalm:

Wyoming has had some very solid basketball teams over the years. I'm actually kind of surprised it's not more heavily skewed in their favor.

This. I was also surprised by the win totals. Pretty good series over the years. Glad it is being brought back.

Of the DI schools from Laramie down to the Springs, the 'Pokes probably have had the strongest program. I'd like to see this game played every year for a long time. Add UNC, DU, and Air Force to that list as well, then make CSU a home and home every year. Also be nice to see New Mexico on the schedule to. If you want to generate more interest in college hoops, then drop the Alcorn State's and Arkansas Pine-Bluff's, and play local/regional teams in the OOC.

I guess I'm the only one in the minority here, but I don't like this. Do people really care about Wyo bball? Have you been to Laramie for games? I went there some seasons ago for a CU game, and the arena was empty. I don't think playing Wyo is going to put fans in the seats - it will just bring yawns from people that could care less that Wyo's semi-competitive record over the years is somewhat better than CU's semi-competitive record.

I agree with Scotch that replacing APB and Alcorn with local schools would be good, but for CU needs to do a better job of playing OOC. Last year was great, with Maui and the Pac10/Big12 matchup. Once again, I'm not against playing local schools, but we need to treat those matchups as the weak OOC games CU plays, not the tough ones. If you want to garner attention on your program, schedule a big school that's only somewhat competitive in bball, like CU. Name recognition will work in CO, because we're not really a bball state. Georgia is good example from this past year. Just my thoughts, since they seem to be against the consensus on this one.

I don't think they're against the consensus.

It's a matchup that's been played like 80 times. Never should have been dropped. Great annual game to play. I compare it to the Miami (OH) game last year. Similar programs, but Wyoming is more interesting.

Biggest advantage is road games vs. the locals are within driving distance.

I went to a game in Laramie in 2005(?) over Christmas break against my alma mater, the University of San Diego. I was one of 5 USD fans in the building, the others being my friends, there was at least 6,000 people there. Wyoming wasn't even that good that year. This is a great series to get back rolling between the Buffs and Pokes.

Edit: Looked it up, Dec. 28 2004, 6700 people there. For my little tiny catholic school in San Diego.

edit on my previous post - I meant "I'm against the consensus"...not "they".

Anyway, maybe I'll stand corrected, and Laramie does have a good following. In the game I went to though (January of some years ago), the arena was empty. I did not get a good feeling for Wyo bball from it.
