The "Moment of Silence" Last Night....

I had just walked through the gate last night when I heard them announce the moment of silence for KU player Thomas Robinson's mother. Thought that was a nice gesture and glad they did it. For those that don't know Robinson's situation:

Woody Paige said:
Robinson's mother died Friday night after suffering a heart attack. Lisa Robinson, a single parent, was 37. Thomas' grandmother died in December. His grandfather died Jan. 16.

Thomas was told of his mother's death by his 9-year-old sister. Instead of coming to Colorado, the forward — who says he wants to play in the NBA or become president of a Fortune 500 company — went home to Washington, D.C., to be with his sister. The rest of the basketball team will join him for the funeral this week.

There was a moment of silence in honor of the Robinson family before the game. Obviously, the Jayhawks were affected — particularly after playing through their grief Saturday.

The students getting rowdy is fine, but the '**** You' chants are getting old and probably need to stop, even if it is KU. :smile2:

Really couldn't believe it when I found out a student yelled '**** Kansas' DURING THE MOMENT OF SILENCE. :asshole: I didn't hear it as I was by the gate and concessions area when it happened, but was told later by some sitting around me. Don't usually care what fans of other schools think of us, but that is pretty bad even for our student section.

And to that student who yelled it: :shot:

That was messed up, but in defense of that student it was pretty loud in the student section just from people talking and you could hardly hear the PA announcer so there is a chance they didn't quite know the situation.

man...that is really disappointing to hear...and no, that is no ****ing excuse for not hearing the PA announcer...I've been to rowdy CU bball games and you can still tell by the attitude of the rest of the fans if something is happening.

I love CU, but I hate some of the dumbass fans we have. We pour drinks on opposing fans, we push opposing fans' females, and now we do this?! That is all unexcusable...and the **** you chants can go as well. They're all immature and douchebag

And for the fans around these fans that do this ****, tell them to shut the **** up. Its also the silence of the fans around me as I confront others that also psses me off. I love CU, but we have to have some of the dumbest fans (yelling when we're on offense in fball...).

**** you chants can get you a T in bball. When I attended NMSU the crowd would usually be warned. Surprised the Big 12 doesn't do much about it.

Kansas fans are almost as stupid as NU fans, holy ****. Well, they still live in Kansas. I found this funny:
They proudly wear t-shirts that proclaim: "We Black Out" - college students getting drunk, how novel! Oh, and the pun itself - BRILLIANT! After all - CU wears black on occassion
Guess they're too stupid to realize that we were blacking out the stadium in, gasp, black!

Not calling you a liar, but I am curious to know who told you that a student screamed "**** Kansas." I am a student and was sitting in the student section and didn't hear anything resembling that. Had I heard it I would've been so ashamed. As for the **** Kansas cheers I was incredibly embarrassed. It is classless, I would rather come up with witty chants than banal taunts to a team that has beaten us 16 or 17 straight times...

I really, really don't see the problem with saying "**** you 'insert team name here'", it's a word, get over it.

I was there. Directly across from the student section, and I heard it loud and clear.

Dude whatever. KU fans haven't always represented themselves well at the Keg either. There were times over the years a Hawk fan would catch a t-shirt from Chip or a cheerleader and throw it back on the floor, as the rest of them cheered on. Chanting 'let's go chickenhawks' or the rock chaulk crap when the band would play the alma-mater at the end of games. Many, many other things. It was always one big joke to them. Just like the fuskers at Folsom they were NEVER gracious visitors. And just like the fuskers, good riddance.

And I really hope Boyle didn't make that call. :pissed:

Your a young buck. I thought the same way when I was a teenager.
Maybe, maybe not. I don't see **** as anything more than a word, and if you get offended by it, **** off. I'm not here to please you. That's how I view it at least.
.

Heard it from several people, all Buff fans.

It's not surprising to hear the chant, it's college students. I remember the first time I moved away from home. :smile2: Fun times.

I could hear it on tv loud and clear, wasnt to hard. It shouldnt happen but in alot of arenas it does. You guys just dont start going Maryland up there and we will be fine.

I get that. But to yell during a moment of silence for some dude's dead mom or whatever it was is even more classless. Honesty, I have no problem with the "**** em up" cheer, but at some point, it just goes over the edge.

F-U C-U is a csu chant and is lame. CU students need to come up with something better. I don't mind the obscenities as much as the lameness. You can't come up with something better than FU, KU? Seriously?

How bout rock chalk suck my **** lol jk. Moment of silence should have been just that silence, that kid is going through hell right now. Far as the chant, you get worse at other places.

Weird I was sure I would've heard it but I trust you guys. I will back up the sentiment that it was loud and very difficult to hear the announcer. I saw 3 separate KU fans escorted out during the game for starting pretty loud shouting matches, even with each other. So they don't defend themselves well in any case. NU fans are much classier that KU fans, but both still live in states that need to be wiped off the map.

Daaah I said the **** you Kansas thing during the silence was ****ed up, I'm talking about other times though.
