Quote from him about Saturday's "performance"

Baylor and Colorado played and looked like a pair of NIT teams. The Bears won, but they are going to have to do more to get on the board. I jumped too fast on the Buffaloes as an NCAA tourney team.

Motivation guys?

still can be used as a motivation

Absolutely. I still have expectations of winning between 7 and 9 conference games this year. Be great to get a win in the Big 12 tourney on top of that.

Winning 18-21 games and then hosting an NIT game or two would be a heck of a season and a big step forward for the growth of the CU basketball program. We've got to get to that level before we can get to the level we want (consistently in the NCAA Tourney with a Sweet 16 or better run every few years & maybe a conference title every decade).

NIT is an accomplishment now? With a potential NBA lottery pick on the team? I don't think so. Don't agree nik

from what I've seen, not impressed with Boyle's coaching.

I've been impressed with the coaching. This team is playing pretty well for having no big men.

If I had a first round pick in the NBA, I'd have some reservations about picking Burks. He plays out of control a lot of the time (perhaps because he's being asked to do things that he really shouldn't be) and doesn't seem to be a particularly good dribbler.

If you could trade the Buffs roster straight up for other programs in the Big 12, which ones would you say "no deal" to?

NIT would still be an accomplishment...even if it's not what some of us were expecting/hoping. Just because you have a potential lottery pick on your roster doesn't mean you're dancing in March. I think Higgins is the better player, but Cory will definitely get picked after Burks - you draft based on athleticism and potential in addition to bball skills. Burks will not be on any All-American lists, but he will be drafted higher than some of those players.

Katz could have jumped off the bandwagon after the OU or KU game. There is still a lot of bball to play, and tourney isn't impossible...but the Baylor game hurt a lot...

i'm not re-inaugurating the band-wagon or the halcyon days of being 3-0 in conference but this mid-season stretch was always going to be tough. i still think ATM, KSU, and UT at home will determine our fate.

but, NIT is a respectable season and i think was a reasonable goal for this squad with a first year coach, at the beginning of the year. lot of basketball left to be played. Burks may have first round NBA game down the line, and does have the ability to take over games at times....but, he's not near the finished product that Beasley or Durant were. right now, he's a lot closer to Willie Warren than Russell Westbrook or Demarcus Cousins.

Ugh. Just lost my post. But basically, Almost any. Burks and Higgins are great, but so far are a combined 1 for 10 in close game or low time decision making. They NEVER make the bucket on the last possession of the half, for example. Burks just jacks up some off balance trash. Higgins nearly chocked the game away against CSU, and I believe the Okie state game was the only one where he stepped up and made a huge stop or bucket (or was that KSU?). Stop giving them the ball in those situations, run a set play and let levi take the open 3 or something. They just have not delivered.

As to the rest of the roster... Roberson is the only guy I love (MANCRUSH). Relphorde should stop going to away games. Sharpe and Tomlinson are both pretty weak in areas, and Tomlinson is often a liability on both ends of the floor. Dufalt gives you effort, and not much more. Boyle going on that run was amazing, but unless these guys step up, and stop being so so SO bad in time crunch situations, there is not much he can do. If Higgins won't sprint up the court with 15 seconds left against Kansas, and Burks continues to just pass the ball to the other team with 30 seconds left, what the hell is he supposed to do?

Excited to see what Boyle does with recruiting tho. Mills is a project, but Roberson was a steal and we keep hearing good things about the incoming class. He has these guys playing ball that is fun to watch. Season tix are gonna be well worth it in the coming years.

?!?!...Higgins was solid vs Indiana and Mizzou as well. Stop giving Burks and Higgins the ball and run a play for Knutson?!?!...the team will go as Cory and Alec go, and the rest of the guys need to step up and be solid glue guys. Levi is not a lethal shooter - you give him the open shot when it's available.

Roberson is good for a freshman, but he is not that amazing of a player. In my opinion, he is not going to be a player that carries a team by the time he's a senior. He is a great surprise this season, but a lot of that has to do with the low expectations to start. If you think he's a steal, Alec is complete robbery. But now that he's made a name for himself, I think some are expecting too much from him (he can't have that Mizzou game everyday).

The team has talent, and I would only for sure trade our roster for KU, TX, Baylor, and KState. I would say absolutely no to Tech, Iowa St, Nebraska.

 The rest of the conference knows how to play the Buffs now, and like any good team does, the Buffs have to adjust to that. Still a lot of ball to play.

I will wait a couple of years before I judge Boyle as the coach. Number 1 task is to be able to recruit which is tough at CU.

The problems this year as in the past several years are the lack of a point guard and lack of any inside power. Coach Bz was a system guy and wanted his big guys to play more outside. Losing Tunks did not help the situation. And no team is very successful without a PG and CU is lacking in that area.

As far as expectations, my expectation is that CU goes to the NCAA tourney this year. Anything less and Mike Bohn should be fired...

forgot this was a place where people had opinions and shared them.

Right now, I have the Buffs at 19-12 (8-8) which would almost certainly be an NIT bid, although perhaps two wins in KC could provide a punchers chnce. We've got ample opportunity to get a few vital quality wins, but we're so far behind due to the piss poor Bzdelik scheduling that it would be enormously tough to overcome, especially after letting a golden opportunity at Baylor slip away. Realistically, the Buffs probably would need to finish 20-11 (9-7) and win two in the Big XII tourney to be safe.

At 14-4 (3-0) the Buffs were listed as the first or second team out of the tourney. We have some serious ground to make up now that would be tough but not impossible to overcome. Tonight's dominating performance is a great sign that the Buffs might come out strong in this final stretch here. It's hard to get too excited about the NIT, but the tournament has recently changed under NCAA control and is much more selective (32 teams instead of 40) and better organized. A few home games and a deep Buff run into the NIT ending in MSG would be a great step for this program, not to mention taking the win total as high as 22, 23
