Re-Ranking the 2008 recruiting classes

Decent article from SI that re-ranks the Top 10 classes from 2008 based on on-field performance and key recruits brought in that year.

Some were spot on in 2008, some were way off. About what you'd expect. Re-rankings looked pretty fair at first glance.

kinda does suck...and OSU almost had Ryan Broyles, too.

These kids have only been on the field for 3 years. At places that have a ton of depth they probably haven't seen the field yet, unless they are a stud. Quality 3* linemen may not seen the field until this year or next. Still a good article.

There's some of that. I agree. I think the re-rank is more meaningful after 5 years. For example, our 2008 class is nowhere on anyone's radar any more. We've lost some guys from that group and brought in some transfers, but it's obviously not what it was. However, the story isn't written. What if have two big years in 2011 and 2012? I sure wouldn't give the credit to the 2010 class as this SI annual article would. It would be credit to the Givens-Major-Pericak-Hansen-Polk-Stewart-Mariner-Deehan class.
