Scout's Brandon Huffman tweeted last night that CU has offered Houston (1st reported offer):

Concord (Calif.) De La Salle four-star quarterback Bart Houston was offered by Colorado tonight...

As a junior, Houston completed 2/3 of his passes for 20 TDs and only 4 INTs as De La Salle went 14-0.

nice touch, like his accuracy, quick release, could be higher, not sure on his arm strength. What is the rumble on this guy?

That o-line is strange... seems to have a good arm, hes quick but should stay in the pocket more than run I think. Good composure when defenders are in his face. Looks legit, I am glad we are in early.

That was pretty impressive... he doesn't rattle.

5.0 40 is slow. Accuracy is awesome. Arm strength is pretty good I think. In the post season video near the end he threw it like 60 years and it was right on the money.

Probably the top QB out of California in 2012. Sounds like Oklahoma and USC may jump in here strong.

The arc on his deeper throws is what concerns me about his arm strength. Those things go to the moon. Thx for the info nik, I can see why people like him a lot.

I am still confused by the O-line. Ive never seen that before. It makes the defense really jumpy.

All linemen except C getting set at once is quite common in HS and below levels of play. It minimizes the time that a linemen is set, improves focus of the linemen, and theoretically reduces false starts.

Good touch, quick release, and can run, perfect for the WC offense. He has enough arm to complete all the throws, which is what you want in a QB. He and Cyler would be excellent additions to the program.

De La Salle is riding a 25-game winning streak, including a dominant 48-8 win over Anaheim Servite to cap the 2010 season. They just agreed to play Florida powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas. Both teams are likely top 10 teams nationally.

He picked up an offer from Wisconsin. Expect Oregon State and Pitt to join that list in the next couple months. Hope we can get him out to Boulder for a visit in April.

He has picked up offers from Arizona and UCLA over the last couple weeks, seems like his recruiting is starting to pick up. He wants to make a decision this summer, so I hope we can get him out to Boulder.

He picked up a Washington offer while visiting there. Wants to visit Wisconsin and CU later this month. The QB dominoes are going to start falling here in the next couple months, hope we get one we want.

I don't want to thread jack, but do we take one or two QBs this cycle?

I'm almost positive we take 1 and that's an annual policy. Embree spoke about the importance of having class balance with the QBs because if you take 2 in a year you're pretty much guaranteeing that 1 is going to transfer.

Thanks Nik, that's what I figured. I guess this underscores why all the best QBs are off the table so soon. Once spots start getting grabbed, you need to pull the trigger or risk being relegated to a lesser conference. Any recruit has to look at CUs situation and like what they see...chance to play early, a pro style offense, experienced NFL coaching.
