Should we be interested?

Not sure that I am interesting in a lot of Sr. transfers who will only be around one year, don't think that helps in building a quality long term program. In some limited cases where we have specific needs I'm not opposed but don't want this to be a regular occurance. Viney doesn't look like the kind of player who was going to be something special at UCLA and although we are thin at corner I would rather give time to the guys who will be with us long term.

Presley looks like a talent who could be a contributor for more than one year, big, talented TE. The question with him is that Ricky isn't exactly known for running a tight ship, to get two separate suspensions for team rules leads me to question his judgement and his choices. I would want Embree to be really sure that the problems are behind him and not going to create issues here.

Sure would like some more insight on the unspecified team rules violations. Definitely don't need to inherit problem children if there are persistent issues.

At first blush, a CB who can come in and play right away for us at a position of need sounds great. But apparently this guy hasn't been able start at UCLA for the past several years so I'm skeptical of him. The TE sounds like a better prospect, but he also seems to have the more pervasive rule violations.

Rumor is Viney to NMSU to play for Walker, who was the DC who recruited him to UCLA.

They had Presley playing FB I think. Presley was like the #1 recruit that go UCLA all fired up when Slick took him away from USC. Underachiever so far. Maybe he will respond better to someone screaming at him. Some kids do and some kids don't.

Both suspended for the same game? Whatever they did, they did it together. Take the one we like, but they need to split.

The 2010 violation was for the same game Josh Smith for unspecified rule violation.

Since we're now in the same conference with them, aren't there more strict rules on in-conference transfers?

Nope.

The Big 12 had a rule about in-conference transfers where they tacked on a year the player had to sit out if he transferred within the conference. The Pac-10 tried that for a little while, didn't like it, and has gone by the NCAA rules since 2004.

I thought Burrito was a filler till Wally gets back to the states. He had to train though. So that's why there is an overlap.

Our CB situation is looking bleak and so is our TE position after this year. Not knowing much about either of these guys, I'd take a long look at them at least.

When is USC going to know if they have to let some of their recruits go from the 2011 class? Or is the NCAA busy investigating Boise State for giving their kids free ice cream? We wouldn't want USC to actually be hurt by the rulings or anything terrible like that..
