Payton has been committed to USC since March of his sophomore year, so it's not going to be easy getting him off that commitment.

However, USC took 3 WRs in the 2011 class (along with 2 Athletes who could play WR). With the impact of NCAA sanctions likely to put an actual 15 scholarship limit on Troy for the 2012 class, Payton is known to be exploring his options.

AZ had some good info on Payton and his interest in CU: http://buffscoop.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9840

Included in that interview was some good information about Coach Marshall having been the coach who had been recruiting Payton to Cal.

According to AZ, Payton really enjoyed the trip to Boulder. Seems like it surprised him a little bit.

Payton seems fairly solid with USC, but I would not be surprised to see him take some official visits in the fall.

We're not on the offer list. Mods?

Rivals shows us with an offer, Scout doesn't, and who the hell know with ESPN - they are obtuse. 247 shows us with no offer, but has him with a soft verbal to USC and warm to us, ND, and Oklahoma (no interest in Cal). Sounds possible but not promising?

According to 247Sports, if Payton decommits from USC his top 3 are Colorado, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.

As time goes on, there is less and less of a chance that he signs with USC. We need to position ourselves for an official visit here.

The only thing "golden" about the Baylor bears is the arches above their future employer's restaurants.

It hadn't really been mentioned, but Payton was a Tosh Lupoi commit.

I've seen speculation that Payton may follow Tosh and Kiesau to Washington. I wonder if we've contacted him.
