Cory invited to draft workout

Great news!

I really hope that Cory makes it. He was such a great player for us these past 4 seasons. I'd think he could be a solid role player in the NBA since he's so versatile and such a high character guy. He'd seem to be someone a lot of teams would love to have on their roster and coming off the bench.

I wonder if someone's considering converting him to PG?

Cory should definitely work on his ball handling. If he can play either guard, his value and likelihood of having a pro career go up a lot. Boyle did use him at the point a lot this year, so he does have that going for him that he wouldn't be completely new to the position.

hmmmmm,

DC article in the newsroom -- (Cory) "I`m hearing that I just need to hone my point guard skills and I should be OK," Higgins said. "It helped a lot (to play point at CU) because some teams got to see me at the position and envisioned me making that leap."

Good luck Cory, hope someone is smart enough to draft you.

After Billups, Cory is my favorite Buffs bball player. He did so many things for the program - he's the type of player that you want every one of your kids to be like. I think he'll get picked up as a free agent, but I'd love it if he worked himself into the second round.

I'd like to see the Nuggets trade Raymond Felton and draft Cory to be Ty Lawson's backup....Cory would give them a defensive presence at the point guard

They can and probably will trade Raymond, but I don't think you necessarily have to draft Cory, unless its late second round. Just pick him up in free agency. Also raymond should be worth a first round pick either this draft or next.

You want them to trade a guy who averaged 16 PPG and 8 APG last year and replace him with a rookie who may not even get drafted and isin't even a natural PG? I don't think you should be allowed within 1000 miles of Masai Ujiri's office this offseason.

Hey, dickhead, he didn't say trade Felton for that draft pick, he said he'd like to see Felton traded and Higgins drafted. Felton doesn't want to be here anyway, so I am all for a trade.

Hey dickhead, I understand that. Thats why I said "replace him with" and not "trade him for." It is a stupid idea. Lets see, proven 16 PPG scorer or a guy who is in all likelihood NBDL bound. Tough choice.

I think we all know Higgins wouldn't replace Felton's production in year one. But so what if one Nuggets/Buffs fan would like to keep rooting for Higgins and posits that if/when Felton gets traded, Higgins is a guy he'd like to see backing up Lawson? You are a huge dickwad.

...I have loved watching Cory develop over the last four years, and I wish him the best in everything down the road.

However, to even hint that Cory is a suitable backup next season for Lawson is ludricous, especially at this point in the evaluation process. That is essentially what SECO said. He and others can hold on to their ideas all they want, but there is also nothing wrong with JRK calling out that statement.

I know I'm not on here as much as a lot of you, but I never quite understood the backlash I sometimes read against JRK's posts, which for the most part seem solid. Yeah, we all have had dumbass posts, but who cares? Some of you really take things personally...

It's that he comes off to a lot of people as trying to be an internet bully who is 100% certain about everything from politics to Buff events from before he had pubes... despite being a teenage noob. He's definitely working on being more engaging and toning it down lately. A lot of the backlash is for old stuff and first impressions.

JRK - sorry for talking about you as if you weren't here. Not trying to be rude or passive aggressive. Keep doing what you've been doing lately.

If Anthony Carter can make it this long....Cory Higgins can sure as hell make it in the NBA.

What I failed to mention is that would be down the road...sorry for not putting it in a 5 year plan

Year 1 - Bench/inactive - Nuggets sign FA point guard to replace Felton who they trade for a 1st rounder
Year 2 - If progresses in summer league he might get some minimal time
Year 3 - Progresses to 2nd guard off the bench playing some point
Year 4 - 1st guard off the bench
Year 5 - One of the top guards off the bench in the NBA

I like Higgins, he had a great college career and did a lot for the CU basketball program. That being said if he lasts in the NBA anywhere close to how long Carter has it would be a huge suprise. While he does suck, Carter has been in the leauge for 13 years, he must be doing something right. Many 2nd rd picks never even end up playing in the NBA and Cory may not even be drafted. He could turn into a solid NBA player but the odds are against it. Not trying to hate just looking at history.

no, he's a huge prick and thats that.

sorry man...not trying to keep dogging your comments, but let's face it...Anthony Carter once was VERY GOOD. Fine, he wasn't that great with the Nuggets, but I always felt he was underrated by the fans and misused by Karl. The guy was simply amazing his Sr year in Hawaii...one of those college seasons I will never forget by an individual. Yes, I think he has better talent that Higgins. Don't get me wrong, I love your five year plan, and I hope it comes true. But just trying to be honest with myself...Cory doesn't have the explosive power or dog-attitude that Carter had. Cory does have a certain smoothness to his game though.

even if it's drama bull**** - you keep me informed  ...ahh yes, the political forum...the place that I've avoided my entire time here for obvious reasons - as much as we hate our politicians sometimes, we act with the same amount of vitriol and stubbornness sometimes don't we?

that would be great if he ended up with the nuggets. would certainly pay for a custom higgins jersey.

I've always wondered if professional teams factor this into drafting players (cough: TEBOW). Mabe some players can help the team off the court by increased jersey or ticket sales even if they don't have much impact on the team in game situations.
