Same high school as Keenan Canty. We may actually have a shot here against a Louisiana prospect with an LSU offer.

Cider is right, LSU locks it up big time much like Texas. That said, Edinburgh does seem to like us and EB's cousin being the HC is a good connection to have. I wouldn't put big money on us landing the guy, but it's not completely impossible.

No surprise, he picked LSU today. He actually did mention us as a team he was considering:

Edinburgh, a three-star prospect and the nation's No. 79 offensive tackle, committed to LSU over Mississippi State, Colorado and others.

"I could honestly say that I could see myself playing for teams like Mississippi State or Colorado," Edinburgh said. "But I just can't pass up LSU."

Bummer, I bet the social pressure was too much for him to pass up the Tigers.

It helps LSU that their main recruiter for New Orleans is Frank Wilson. He was the Rivals recruiter of the year for 2011 and has ties to several schools in the New Orleans area from his days as an assistant/head coach for various high schools, including Edna Karr. He also was the AD for the entire New Orleans school district for a year before he started his college coaching career. You are not going to find many people more highly respected than him when it comes to New Orleans recruiting, the coaches and kids love him.

Not doubting that, I was just going by the interview AZ had with him awhile back. Derek seemed to not be overly high on LSU, but said people bugged him all of the time with things like "why don't you go to LSU?!" I figured at that point the only chance we had was if he was really set on leaving the state, which he apparently wasn't.

Too bad, this was a really big kid and a good looking prospect. With the news breaking about LSU being put on probation and losing a couple ships, maybe he wanted to lock up his spot. Ah well.
