Jackson isn't in any of the databases. Info from BuffScoop.

Wheatley H.S. is in Houston's 5th Ward. That almost always means toughness when a player comes from there. Kanavis doing work on the recruiting trail getting us back into Houston where we need to be.

Jackson was First Team All-District 4A as a wide receiver in 2010 (size, speed and ball skills - love that in a corner). LINK

There has been a lot of bypassed and underrated talent in Houston's city and east end high schools. Most of these guys get overlooked early in recruiting for talent that comes out of the big suburban football factories. Coach Kanavis would do well to build a pipeline with Wheatley and the other schools in the conference.

I really want this kid. His film looked almost exactly like Jimmy Smith playing corner, except he is already far more developed than Jimmy was at this stage of his career.

Right, I think of the Yates team from back around 1993 that was the 5A runner-up and it went all suburban after that for the Houston area. Inner city football programs get overlooked because they don't have the booster clubs or facilities that the spread out tract neighborhoods can grow, but if you've studied the basketball programs from Houston or DFW city schools there's speed and size to be found that should translate to measurables for success at the next level. The suburbs may be able to pay the best coaches in a state but it's a more even playing field in college. And Wheatley is Kanavis' alma mater so that relationship should be huge.

'12 TX ATH (CB/WR) William Jackson..WOW

I just finished cutting film on Houston Wheatley and thought I'd share this with you guys.

William Jackson is a kid you won't find on the national recruiting websites (largely b/c they haven't seen film). After watching this kid, he's the real deal.

6-2, 180 playmaker at WR & Corner...while he can play both, he is an intruiging prospect on defense. Can play either CB or S IMO. Head coach says buffs lead at this time.
Kanavis McGhee's ties to the program can't hurt either. Anyway I'll shut up and let you guys see what I saw.

Thanks, cc. I'll work on adding the profile stuff to your post and get him into the database.

I can see why you're impressed.

Me too...very nice. But why no recruiting from UT and others?

I can't overstate this enough, this dude is going to be a great CB. Jimmy Smith part 2, but his body looks much more matured than Jimmy's did early on.

I'll go ahead and throw this out there: I want him more than any other CB prospect. Yes, more than Yuri Wright or Ishmael Adams.

Coach Akina really likes him...However their sights are set on 5 star Nelson Agholor, Colin Blake, and Justin Thomas.

Agholor is a long shot but Texas is very high on Blake (who plays HS in my area). Thomas is also in the mix but I have a feeling Blake will get offered. Blake's stock rose after his film made rounds
and he is a very aggressive DB. However, I like Jackson better than Blake at this stage b/c he's so versatile and IMO, is far ahead of Blake in pass coverage. I expect William's stock to continue
to rise as more coaches see him on film and in person.

AZ gave him a call a couple weeks ago and apparently word is that we've cooled on him because of his grades.

Quite unfortunate, I hope he works on it because I really want him.

If you can get into HISD, there are some great athletes down there, Yates, Wheatley, Forest Brook, Milby...some of those Houston HS's turn out monster players.
