With Kanavis being from Houston and knowing a lot of the HS coaches down there we should be able to at least get a listen from some of these kids. I would have no problem at all with establishing a pipeline from Katy to CU, lots of talent there.

Katy High School = powerhouse, as good as any school in Texas. We have already offered a 2013 RB from the school as well.

Overstatement on Katy HS...but a great school for football talent. I hope Kanavis is in bed with their coaches.

Not an overstatement at all. Five state championships since 1997 and runner-up another 4 times.

Voted HS team of the decade by state publications. Great program, though I can't name a top product other than Andy Dalton for college productivity. Everything I've read says Jones attends Seven Lakes HS though. Can anyone confirm?

You're right. In a way, it's a good thing. It explains a bit why he isn't rated by any of the services by the end of July. They'd know the guys from Katy HS.

My cousin is starting there next month. I will caution her not to "recruit" him.

Absolutely, an unheralded player out of Katy HS, would be like an unknown out of Mullen. Seven Lakes is the new HS in the ever growing region of western Houston. They've only had football for a handful of years, and they've struggled going 12-38 with most of theirs wins coming against lesser foes from OOC. No wonder anyone's given they roster more than a glance.
