Some notes to get you through the hours until Saturday. Many thanks to ESPN Stats & Information.- Stanford has won each of its past eight games by at least 25 points. Not only is that the longest such streak in school history, but it’s the longest in the history of the Pac-12 Conference, which goes back to 1916, when it was known as the Pacific Coast Conference.* The last FBS team to have a similar eight-game stretch was Florida in 2008, and that team went on to win the national championship.* In the BCS era (since 1998), only Boise State in 2002 had a longer such streak (nine games).
- Stanford enters*its game*at Washington State with the nation’s longest active win streak at 13 games, which is tied for a school record. Stanford won 13 consecutive games over the 1939-1941 seasons and the 1904-05 seasons.
- Stanford is looking to start 6-0 for the first time since 1951. That season the Cardinal won their first nine games before losing the final two.
- Andrew Luck is 25-5 all-time as a starter with Stanford. His 25 wins are the most of any quarterback in school history. Luck leads all Pac-12 QBs this season in completion percentage (73.1), yards per attempt (9.5) and passing efficiency (182.3) while compiling 14 pass TDs to only two interceptions.
- Washington State has lost its past nine games to opponents ranked inside the AP top 10. The Cougars last defeated an AP top-10 team in 2003, when they beat No. 5 Texas in the Holiday Bowl. The Cougars last defeated an AP top-10 team at home in 2001 — No. 9 UCLA.
- Washington State is 3-2 this season, having already surpassed its win total from last season (2-10). The Cougars are one of three teams from BCS-AQ conferences to have already accomplished the feat, joining Wake Forest and Vanderbilt. More impressive for the Cougars, they have already equaled their win total from the previous two seasons combined (3-21).
- Oregon has owned*its series with Arizona State*of late, winning the past six meetings by wide margins. The closest game over that stretch was 11 points (last year) and the Ducks' average margin of victory in those six games is 21.5 points.
- Oregon has won 14 consecutive conference games overall dating back to a 2009 loss against Stanford. The string is the longest in school history, surpassing the 13-game streak from 1947-49, when the Ducks were members of the PCC.
- Oregon has won 19 consecutive home games dating back to the 2008 season. It is the second-longest streak in the history of Autzen Stadium; the Ducks won a school-record 23 straight home games between 1997 and 2001.
- Oregon QB Darron Thomas has at least one touchdown pass in 18 consecutive games and has 14 TD passes in his past four games.*He*has completed 65 percent of his throws of 15-plus yards in his last four games, including two touchdowns last week against California.
- Since Chip Kelly took over in 2009, the Ducks have surpassed the 40-point mark 21 times in 31 games.
- Oregon ranks fifth*nationally in rushing, but first among all teams that don’t run the triple option offense (the top four: Navy, Air Force, Army, Georgia Tech). Oregon’s 7.4 yards per carry leads all FBS teams.
- Though it’s early, a victory would put Arizona State at 4-0 in the conference and in great position in the Pac-12 South race. USC is ineligible for the title and Colorado, Utah and Arizona are all winless in conference play entering this weekend. UCLA is the only other team in the division with a conference win so far (the Bruins have two).
- Arizona State’s No. 18 ranking is its best since the Sept. 7, 2008, poll (15[SUP]th[/SUP]).
- Arizona State has forced 14 opponent turnovers in its past three games, including three interceptions last week against Utah.
- The Sun Devils defense leads all FBS-AQ schools in third-down efficiency, allowing opponents to convert on only 25 percent of third*downs (20 of 80).
- Sun Devils coach Dennis Erickson is just 2-8 in his career against Oregon. That’s tied for the worst win percentage against any opponent in his career (minimum 10 games). He’s also 2-8 against USC.
- More than 52 percent of Sun Devils QB Brock Osweiler's FBS passes have been thrown 5 yards or fewer downfield. Of these passes, 44 percent have been thrown to the running backs. The majority of these short passes come in the form of screen passes. The Sun Devils are averaging more than eight screen passes per game this season. They have had at least three screens go for 9 yards or more in every game this season except for the loss against Illinois, when they had no such plays.
- The series between Colorado and Washington is tied 5-5-1, but the Huskies have won the past two games, including a 17-14 victory in 2000.
- Colorado has played 13 true freshmen this year.
- Washington RB Chris Polk has eclipsed the 100-yard mark in four of five games this year and ranks eighth nationally with 122.2 yards per game. His 15 career 100-yard games ranks second in school history behind Napoleon Kaufman's 17.
- Huskies sophomore QB Keith Price is seventh in the nation with a 173.7 efficiency rating. If he maintains his present pace, he will easy break the school record set by Brock Huard in 1997 (153.8).
- Washington has scored at least 30 points in its first five games. Never have the Huskies scored 30 or more in their first six.
- Utah leads its series with Pittsburgh 2-0, including a 27-24 overtime win last season.
- The Utes rank 19th in the nation in run defense, giving up just 99.4 yards per game. Panthers running back http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/482843/ray-grahamRay Graham is second in the nation with 149.8 yards rushing per game.
- Utah is 8-0 all-time against Big East Conference teams.
- Oregon State leads its series with BYU 5-4, but BYU*won the last meeting, 44-20 in the 2009 Las Vegas Bowl.
- The Beavers have entered October with losing records eight consecutive years. But since 2004, they are 38-15 in October, November and December.
- The Beavers are minus-2 and BYU is minus-4 in turnover margin.
- Oregon State is last in the Pac-12 in scoring offense (20.8 ppg) and passing efficiency.
