Except for the ones on the other schools' rosters whom we've played this year.
There's the OG from ASU and the FB from Stanford. Who else?
So basically one kid a year from Colorado does something, meh.
2006
Butch Lewis-Started several games over his career at USC and spent some time on the Chiefs practice squad.
Lamarr Houston-Was a regular starter for Texas during his career there and was a 2nd round pick for the Raiders.
Chris Guarnero-Started multiple years for Cal at center.
Nate Solder-1st round pick for the Patriots after great career at CU.
Pierre Allen-Was a regular starter for NU during his career there and spent some time with the Seahawks.
2007
Drew Davis-Started several games for Oregon and was their second leading receiver on the team that made the national championship game.
Devin Aguilar-Has started several games over his career at Washington and currently leads their team in receiving yardage
2008
Andrew Sampson-Has been a multi-year starter for Arizona State on the OL.
Collin Klein-Starting QB for K-State and is leading them to one of their best seasons in recent memory.
2009
Ryan Hewitt-Starting at FB for Stanford
2010
Nduka Onyeali-Was a standout as a true freshman for Arizona State and was the Pac-10 Defensive Freshman of the Year.
Seems to me there were some good players in 2006 and 2007. Jury is still out on a lot of the 2008-2011 kids. The talent may not be deep, but to act like it is no big deal to be losing in-state talent is pretty foolish.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to have gotten Thurston or any of the in state kids but it just seems that Colorado kids don't seem to pan out as well at the next level.

I disagree with half of your list. Espy, Jaffee and Ebner were all walk on players. They probably over achieved considering 99 percent of walkons never touch the field.
Completely agree. I think we need to be very selective, though. I'm less worried about talent than I am about mental makeup. We need in-state kids who play angry because I'm not sure that even next year's team leadership will demand that from their teammates. I'm very happy with Norgard and Henington. I don't know enough about the other in-state prospects on this front, but the history hasn't been good at CU.

Our redshirt frosh out of Boulder WR Kenny Bell is a hell of a receiver. Kids got good mits!
I also think the lack of truly good players outside of a few hurt the Colorado kids. You have someone who like Ryan Miller who dominated at Columbine, but was that because he was that much bigger and the competition across from was weak and small or was it because he was truly elite? Same question for Kasa, Major, Givens (bad example?), etc. Could it be the lack of coaching they had at CU? Of course. There's exceptions yes, Solder is one that comes to mind but I can't think of any recent Colorado players that lived up to their billing.
I think a lot of the recent history is due to lousy player development by Hawk. Look at the Mac years and we always had some CO kids playing key roles on the team. Also look at kids who have gone out of state and done well including Loadholdt, Zac Robinson, Lamar Houston, and a number of other kids who have been key players for quality teams.

Drew Davis did okay at Oregon. Devin Aguilar has done and is doing well at UW. Jeff Byers did well at USC (maybe not as great as he was supposed to...but still). Lendale White at USC. I forget his name, but the DL from Mullen that everyone seemed to be too small but is doing well at ASU.
Everyone is on the same page I believe about CO football - it's okay, and there's some solid talent...however, you can't solely recruit CO. CO can't even be your primary area, but we have to keep top kids in state to establish this program as the top college program for the state. I believe one of main reasons why so many CSU fans exist is because Sonny really built good relationships with CO programs. CSU was seen more of CO's program, because they had more players from the state. Top CO players should be going to CU. People in the state will identify with the program more if that's the case.
I disagree about Nolan Brewster - I thought he was overrated. He would not have excelled at CU in my opinion.
I understand what you're saying Buffnik about getting angry players...but at the same time, we can't have a bunch of Bryce Givens running around. I just want us to get football players.
For the record, I think the staff flips Thurston. I have no inside information...just based on what I've read primarily on this board...I see him flipping. I really hope my dumb ass is right.

I hope you're right too. I continue to hold out hope that his commitment to Nebraska is a ruse. Can't say I know too much about the history of Colorado players in college, but I agree with most of the posters that ideally we should be getting the top in-state players every year. Looks like the most competition at this stage is from UW and ASU. I can't see teams like Auburn and Penn State raiding Colorado all that often. It's impossible to know which players will excel, but losing in-state guys that end up being stars hurts just a little bit more than the others.
