...yet he can evidently "write his own full ride scholarship to just about any Division I football team in the nation..." Nice hyperbole from the local press.

I don't think it's hyperbole by any means, and I'm sure he has multiple BCS schollie offers. He's legit and one of the top prospects out of Hawai'i this year, if not the top prospect. Shane is not a PSA who you will hear or see much about though (from what I've heard on Dawgman his dad Bern has interviews on lockdown)... so don't expect to hear much about him until he signs an LOI somewhere.

so what is he waiting for? Why hasn't he committed to your Dawgs?

That's just it.

Nobody knows anything except Shane and his family.

He may have already committed, or we may not hear a single thing about him until LOI day. Nobody will hear anything until his family wants it known. I really, really hope he commits to the 'Dawgs (big time prospect and a legacy PSA for the Dawgs), but nobody knows or will know anytime soon. His decision or future decision is on lockdown.

That's actually a bit refreshing after hearing some of these kids aren't hearing from such and such coach enough, or posting all kinds of misleading crap on their facebooks, furthering the drama. We were better off as fans not knowing half this crap!

There's nothing to gain besides "look at me" and they often turn out bad at some point. 18 year old kids change their minds and it's tough enough managing the coaches that hound you. Keep it between yourself and the coaches and it has to be easier.

I agree.

While we all want the latest gossip on our favorite recruits, it's hard not to admire the family decision to keep it close to their vests in this day and age.

Brostek is the son of former Husky and L.A Rams offensive lineman Bern Brostek. The younger Brostek did not attend any summer camps or combines and the rumor floating around was Bern didn’t want to showcase his son to other schools and wasn’t even taking calls from any other colleges except Washington.

When the lineman showed up in Boulder, it was not only considered a major coup for the Buffs, but one of the bigger recruiting surprises of the year. Reports are the lineman had a very nice visit but was it enough to overtake the Huskies?

Purely speculation here, but it sounds to me like his dad is trying to push him to UW and Shane convinced him to allow a visit here.

wow. His pops was one of the most dominating interior OL I ever saw, he'd be a great get.

Dillon? If that is the case we should hire him to be our recruiting coordinator after he wins the heisman his senior year.

Weather in kamuela is really similar to weather in Washington.

I don't know why so many Hawaii kids like Washington other than proximity. I'm pretty sure they mostly end up hating the clouds and rain and move back immediately. Getting Shane and his dad to boulder could have an awesome effect on Both of them...

Really think he will forgo being the #1 overall pick to be recruiting coordinator? Hells yea he will!

It sounds like he would be rated much higher if he actually did interviews and reported his offers. Hopefully he liked his visit
