  1. Alabama vs Florida thread

I think it will be a great game. I'll most definitely be rooting for Bama. But if I was forced to put money on the game straight up, I'd have to put it on the Gators. Nonetheless, Roll Tide!
  2. Woody Paige, Denver Post: CU-NU not a rivalry

Gee, I got a neg rep for this thread, of course from someone too chicken**** to put their name to it. Thanks, bombay... (Is he one of those unintelligible customer support reps from India that you have to deal with these days?) :wow:
  3. Woody Paige, Denver Post: CU-NU not a rivalry

:yeahthat: Now that right there is damn funny! :smile2:
  4. Woody Paige, Denver Post: CU-NU not a rivalry

No pity - call it empathy. The reason we can feel bad for you is from going through pretty much the same crap ourselves not very long ago.
  5. Woody Paige, Denver Post: CU-NU not a rivalry

I just totally ignored him and continued on with the civil discussion everyone else was having. Best way to deal with that kind.
  6. Woody Paige, Denver Post: CU-NU not a rivalry

Like most all of you, I was shocked to hear the news that Hawkins was being retained. We had 4 years of absolute hell enduring Callahan - you've had 4 similar years of Hawkins, and I truly was shocked and saddened to hear you'll have to endure at least 1 more.
  7. Woody Paige, Denver Post: CU-NU not a rivalry

You do realize you're talking about the same guy, right? :smile2:
  8. Woody Paige, Denver Post: CU-NU not a rivalry

Let me first say, I'm a H-u-s-k-e-r fan who'd like to see this really be a rivalry, not one of those who scoffs at it. Not like in the Mac days, with all the out and out hatred which whipped the CU students into such a frenzy that all the bad incidents happened, but a respectful, hard fought...
  9. Who do you want to win the Big XII Championship game?

Ah, you mean like that "HornBuff" guy here?
  10. Who do you want to win the Big XII Championship game?

No, Nebraska winning means more money for CU (as some other CU fans have already pointed out.) If Nebraska wins, they get the B12 automatic BCS invite, and Texas gets an at-large BCS bid, so the conference gets 2 BCS bowls vs. 1.
  11. Corn

And I don't quite understand people who beat their chests about their team's National Championships dating to the dark ages, plus their win/loss record all the way back into the 19th century, and then claim other fans are "living in the past." That's just me. As for why I'm...
  12. Corn

LOL, sounds like uninformed wishful thinking to me! And as for "in the past", I really got a good laugh about that, after seeing you beat your chest about Texas and their "2nd most victories of all time" which digs WAY into the past, or their "4 National Championships", 3 of which I think...
  13. Corn

Just as there is no argument that Nebraska is not in the very top group. Lets look at modern records. Over the last 50 years, the top winning percentages are as follows: Nebraska: .775 Ohio State: .757 Penn State: .743 Texas: .740 Alabama: .733 Oklahoma: .729 Michigan...
  14. 14 Buffs Earn Academic All Big 12

Understand - you meant it about the athletes, and I agree. The Universities - all of them - are putting way too much load on the typical D1 athlete to excel at both athletics and academics, making those who do even more outstanding.
  15. 14 Buffs Earn Academic All Big 12

    :iagree: Well put, Philly...
  16. 14 Buffs Earn Academic All Big 12

Because of the ignorant Buffs fans (not you!) who are ALWAYS posting crap about "Nowledge U", "kNu", and idiotic stuff like Daaah did directly above your post. I agree with what you said though - it demonstrates what student athletes SHOULD be, and we should both be proud of our team and...
  17. 14 Buffs Earn Academic All Big 12

Congrats to those 14, as others have already posted, definitely a big accomplishment while playing D1 BCS conference football. Have to add - for those of you here who keep referring to the H-uskers as hicks and rednecks - 22 Nebraska players earned the honor - 2nd in the conference to Texas...
  18. Corn

Likely 9-3 in the second year of a new coach? Hey, I bet you Buffs would love to be defending such a record - as opposed to the reverse - 3-9? ;) Lets see, when is the last time Nebraska had a 3-9 record? Not in the darkest depths of our Callahan debacle did we sink to that.
  19. Corn

HornBuff, its interesting that you think it will be extremely difficult for Nebraska to return to past successes. If you're talking about our 4 year run with 3 NC's in 94 -97, then you may be correct. But Bo took the team to an 8-4 record last year, 9-4 with the bowl win. This year we'll be a...
  20. If UT Loses CCG...

Yep! HornBuff sounds AWFULLY worried about Nebraska beating the Horns! If the Horns can't beat that "marginal record" Nebraska team you are worried about, then they're no more deserving of a BCS berth than Nebraska is.
