    Why 16 team playoff is necessary not 4 or 8.

    There is NO point in doing the playoff off if you are going to have 8 or 4 teams. We are better off having 5 BCS games in that case. That at least gives 10 teams a shot at a big game. Throw out all of the OOC conference games except for maybe one or two. That makes up for the 4 possible...
