'13 CA PF Zena Edosomwan (Verbal to Harvard)

still want from the article nik posted on josh scott

Zena Edosomwan (North Hollywood, Calif./Harvard-Westlake)
2012, PF, 6-7, 215 pounds
Many pundits and coaches can question his hands and ability to finish over length, but they can't debate whether Edosomwan is a winner. He is a high-energy player with a blossoming skill set and nasty streak to boot. His footwork has improved considerably in the past year along with his post moves. Whether it's diving on the floor for a loose ball, finishing over the rim in transition or displaying a blue-collar mentality in the paint area at both ends, he is a no-brainer for the high-major level.

Zena Edosowman's Focus Turns Toward Recruiting

Edosomwan, a 6-foot-7 power forward from Harvard-Westlake (Calif.), made an impression in the spring and then solidified his standing by holding his own against the cream of the crop. He runs the floor well and is excellent at finishing in transition. Edosomwan is willing to do the dirty work in the paint, but is athletic and skilled enough to make plays on the glass and above the rim.

The next step for him will be recruiting, which has heated up in a major way lately.

“It’s going really well,” Edosomwan said. “I just have to cut down my list soon.”

He picked up offers in the past couple of days from UNLV, California and Wake Forest, adding to a collection that also includes Harvard, Georgia Tech, Washington State, USC, Colorado, Utah, Oregon, Maryland, Gonzaga and Arizona State. Edosomwan, who ranks No. 68 in CBSSports.com's Top 100 and also holds a 3.4 GPA, has strong interest from UCLA, Texas, Vanderbilt, Washington and Virginia Tech.

It's highly unlikely that we would want to take three "4s" in the same class. The recruiting focus has been on guards. Not signing a transfer or an additional 2011 guy after Alec declared opened up a 5th scholarship so there was a chance, but all indications are that we would rather bring in a "3" with a pure guard and then double up with another wing or another guard.

Visiting Wake Forest this weekend.

BTW, it is without a doubt that Zena has the best "visitors found this page by searching for" list of any other recruit on this board. Ever. Especially because someone actually spelled one of the attempts as "Zhena Worrier Prinsess".

Frankly, I like " زينا"better.

Is he even in CU's discussion anymore? Steve Physioc says he's UW bound this weekend for a visit.

Buffscoop/Yungcoach reported a while back that apparently we interviewed him and right after that he cut us from consideration. This interview was not recent.

CU was out of it pretty early on. Not sure if he dropped us or we dropped him (we had Scott & Gordon both committed at that point), but we were out early.

Anyway, from Scout:

9:09: After months of the assumption that Zena Edosomwan would sign in the fall and likely with USC, it now looks like he could hold off until the spring. Harvard has made a strong push for Edosomwan and he may not choose a school until he knows if he can get into the Ivy League program. (JG)

Any chance we're getting back in on Zena with the Dinwiddie quote and Caine being done?

ESPN Update:

Recruiting update: He has taken all his visits, which included trips to USC (Sept. 17), Harvard (Sept. 24), Cal (Oct. 8), Texas (Oct. 15) and Washington (Oct. 22). It was thought he would sign in November, but took the SAT again to see if he could improve his score for Harvard. As of right now, he plans to cut his list in the next week and then make a decision possibly in the next couple of weeks. UCLA, Cal and Harvard appear to be out in front as a decision looms.

Really hoping he goes to Harvard. First off, it's a great story (4* recruit goes Ivy, yada yada yada). Secondly, I don't want to play him in conference.

Gershon is reporting he's going to re-classify as a 2013 recruit, and has given his verbal to Harvard. First top 100 recruit to ever go Ivy.
