Doesn't have an offer from CU yet. BTW, while he is listed as a pro-style, his clips show a pretty athletic guy who also plays LB and WR.

I'm a little confused as to how he's not more highly recruited. He looks to have all the skills needed to be 4* quarterback. He's got prototypical size with a strong arm and great athletic ability. Are there any reasons why he's not more highly recruited?

He was injured the 3rd game of his Jr year and missed the rest of the season.

The offers are starting to come in for him. In the last couple of days, he's picked up offers from Northwestern, Wake Forest, SDSU, and Tennessee.

I know that I'm in the minority, but Darnold is my favorite of the quarterbacks in this class that I've seen so far that hasn't committed to another school.

Impossible. Waller is higher rated.

:smile2:

I remember when Oregon accepted an early commitment from Mariota and we were all saying, "Who?!?!". Low 3*, if rated at all, at the time. Kelly was all about his own evaluations and system. Will be interesting if Helfrich has the same confidence in his player evals or if he chases the scouting service stars.

He plans to visit Northwestern, Tennessee, Duke and Wake Forest at the end of June, but he's also paying close attention to the schools closer to home, including Oregon State.

"I'm definitely still looking at a bunch of schools on the west coast, both Pac-12 schools and Mountain West schools," Darnold said.

Not sure if we're high on him or not, but it obviously sounds like he'd prefer to stay in the P12 region.

My daughter is going to Sam's school next year. The high school was giving physicals to incoming freshmen this morning that will be participating in sports. According to one of the football parents I was chatting with, he picked up an offer from CU and is receiving heavy interest from Stanford and Oregon.

I know you're a busy man, what with leading the free world and all, so thank you for taking some time out to share this information and welcome to the site.

Welcome to the board!

Love it when someone brings new info to the party off the jump.

Darnold's recruiting is absolutely blowing up.

Oregon really must not have been as high on Waller as it seemed they were.
I had read on the Oregon 247 board that their staff thought Waller was really raw. That was right when they lost their first choice to A&m. I think they want someone who will be more of an immediate factor in the competition when Mariotta goes pro. Waller may have big upside, but they seemed to like Darnold a lot and think he has the skills to contribute sooner.
