Hat tip to Kyle McCall here. The Buffs coaching staff, specifically Andy LaRussa who recruits the Inland Empire, is showing heavy early interest in Jones.

The obvious connection between CU and Upland is Christian Powell, Marques Mosley, and Donta Abron.

I really wish MacIntyre could fill a staff position with Upland's coach Tim Salter. Director of high school relations or some title like that. Would be a huge resource to get us in the IE.

Spoke with coach Salter regarding Jones and a number of other Upland guys. He said CU sent for four or five transcripts the other day, said he was happy at Upland and didn't know about getting into working for a Pac-12 school like aik had mentioned. Salter does have family in Colorado and gets up here frequently. Upland will be loaded next year and there are a ton of future/current Pac-12 players in the Inland Empire as you know.

Here's that story on Elijah Jones. Lots of potential. I think his recruiting will take off after he hits up a scheduled Rivals camp on March 1. I'm going to use the Salter interview for a story on the Buffs recruiting the Inland Empire, might try to get a hold of another coach or two if you have any suggestions feel free. Not to hijack this thread, but Salter mentioned Upland freshman Nathan Tilford, video below. He already has offers from USC/UCLA/Arizona State.

Nice work NKR. The coaches at Corona Centennial and Vista Murrieta would probably be worth a call, those two schools dominate football in this area.

Latest update with the USC 247 site has CU and Washington State close to offering. Has Ivy League offers too, so smart kid.

Jones' father told me this weekend that Upland might play Valor in Colorado this coming season. That would be cool.
