'17 CA CB Elijah Blades (Signed to Nebraska)

From the podcast it's clear Blades will have to spend a year at the Arizona Western JUCO to become eligible for a D-1. He listed a few teams he is very interested in which were Bama, Oregon, USC, Florida, and LSU. He also mentioned a few teams who have shown interest which were Oregon, USC, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, ASU, and "some other SEC schools".

If you're not a full qualifier, I believe you can still qualify by taking HS classes to get there (i.e. the original Nebraska plan).

However, going the Juco route for 1 year? If he wasn't a FULL qualifier out of HS, once he enrolls at the Juco, he has to graduate from that Juco before going D1. Perhaps I'm missing something, but I think it's possible he could be missing something...

And now we see that the Fusker class was never as good as it appeared. Looked good in February though.... But that won't win any games for you. And Florida took some gas for losing him, when clearly they just moved on....

Thanks to @GoBuffs7 for finding this. Looks like Blades went the JUCO route last year and now everyone is after him again, including Alabama and most of the SEC. As a result, he’s now the #1 JUCO CB for the ‘19 class. I wasn’t entirely sure that it was a legit offer from us but Slife retweeted it so it must be.

Another recruit that Katie Beason could have a big effect in landing him.

Out of curiosity, why would it be a bigger impact with this particular player?

Because he is a player who signed with Nebraska and did not end up qualifying. Katie works wonders with JC kids and kids who struggled with academics in high school. She is one of the main reasons why our retention rate, and getting kids qualified is much higher then under Hawkins and Embree. Here is an article on her impact.
