I couldn't find too much info on him, but here are his freshman stats;

Branden Rankins, Aquinas, 124 att, 1,013 yards, 11 TDs

Wanted to mention it sounds like the young man had a monster junior (and sophomore***) season. In a new local newspaper article dated 3/27 (http://www.sbsun.com/sports/20170327/aquinas-footballs-joshka-gustav-commits-to-colorado ) mainly about teammate Joshua Gustav's recent Buff commitment , it says

"
...
There is the potential for Gustav to have an Aquinas teammate joining him there.

Running back Branden Rankins, who rushed for 2,585 yards and 30 touchdowns this year, has also been offered by Colorado, according to rivals.
...
"

A few links (especially since the OP doesn't didn't have much on him as I type this)-
  • Assume the level of competition must be considered questionable (???), as even with 2 huge statistical years*** , 247 still shows the Buffs as the only offer (with UCLA, USC and Nevada listed in the Interested category, http://247sports.com/Player/Branden-Rankins-89949) . (***Per Maxpreps, he also ran for 2,112 yards and 22 touchdowns in the 2015 season as a sophomore, and over his 3 high school seasons so far is averaging 9.1 yards per carry.)

Aquinas generally plays some really small and not very good competition (lots of Christian schools around the inland empire)

They open up next year vs Big Bear (population of 5,000), but then they play Crespi, so I'm guessing they'll get crushed, but it should be interesting to see how Rankins, Gustav, and Friis do.

Somewhat surprised he hasn't picked up more offers. Just finished a visit tour of SDSU, ASU & Purdue.
