No big new news from the ski team yet for this coming season, but figured I'd start this now so IT is ready as things spring up.
Just to put various things I/ we do know about now:
1) The biggest news of the off-season was the retirement of long-time and VERY successful Head Coach Richard Rokos (thankfully, he is listed as a Volunteer Assistant in this year's roster). It was obviously a huge hole to fill, but based on anything a fan outside the program can see, the Buffs did as well as anyone could possibly hope for, as the new coach, Andy LeRoy, (His roster page - https://cubuffs.com/sports/skiing/roster/coaches/andy-leroy/3803 ), is a Buff alum, and most recently was head coach at one of the Buff's main rivals, DU, where he coached the Pioneers to 6 team national championships in his 15 year tenure. (I 1st posted about his hiring in this dedicated March thread - https://www.allbuffs.com/threads/andy-leroy-named-head-ski-coach-at-colorado.147592/ .)
2) 1st pre-season press conference, as part of CU's Winter Sports Media Day, with Coach LeRoy can be seen in the below Youtube video-
3) The team had its main annual fundraiser, the Ski Ball, late last week. Some pix from the event-
4) I just noticed the team has a schedule posted already. (Article describing it is available at https://cubuffs.com/news/2021/8/28/skiing-rmisa-releases-2022-ski-schedule.aspx. ) The Buffs are scheduled to be in action beginning Jan. 2, 2022 and going through March 12th:

Since I always forget the scoring system in skiing, I have posted the below in various prior years' threads. (I'm assuming/ hoping there's no change this year.) -
"Scoring in NCAA Skiing- the top 30 finishers of each race earn points. The scores earned for the top 8 finishers from 1st through 8th are 40 (for 1st place)-37-34-31-29-27-25-23. After that, the 9th through 30th places earn one point less for each lower place finish, so for example 9th place earns 22 points, 10th place 21 points, etc., all the way down to the 30th place finisher, who earns 1 point."
(Note-at the NCAA championships, teams can only bring 3 athletes of each gender for each type of skiing (Alpine and Nordic), so all their finishes count. For earlier season races with more than 3 racers per team competing in each event, only the top 3 finishers for each team get their finishes counted when calculating their (and other) team's scores.)"
