Thought I'd start this thread now that we can use to post any general (spans more than one CU sport) academic news throughout this academic year (through the summer 2024 semester) related to Buff student-athletes.

1st off- the list of December Buff student-athlete graduates was just announced.

BOULDER - A total of 78 University of Colorado student-athletes were recognized for their work in the classroom by being named to the Pac-12 Conference's 2023 Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll members carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average and have served at least one year in residence. The Fall Academic Honor Roll includes eligible Buffaloes competing in cross country, football, soccer, and volleyball.

A total of 719 student-athletes in seven fall season sports across 14 Pac-12 schools and affiliate members were honored. As approved by the Conference's Faculty Athletics Representatives, any student-athlete competing in an NCAA-sponsored or emerging sport at a Pac-12 institution, regardless of league sponsorship, is also eligible for Academic Honor Roll recognition and includes 79 student-athletes from the fall sports of field hockey, triathlon, and men's water polo.

Listed below are Colorado's 54 Pac-12 2023 Fall Academic Honor Roll recipients:

Buffs Boast Highest Semester, Cumulative GPA In History​

BOULDER – The Colorado Buffaloes accomplished the highest semester GPA in school history while pushing the cumulative GPA among student-athletes to an all-time high. CU's 363 student-athletes spring semester GPA came in a 3.182 and the cumulative GPA for all student-athletes sits at 3.244.

In May, a total of 97 student-athletes took part in graduation ceremonies, including 73 that graduated at the conclusion of the spring semester, the most in CU history, with the others on track to graduate in August or December. A full list of graduates along with academic honors for those student-athletes can be found in the 2024 Graduation Program.

Between the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters, four teams accomplished the highest term GPA in school history, led by the women's golf and men's track & field teams, who both had the best fall and spring semester GPA on record this past year. Those two programs were joined by men's golf and women's ski, who also had their best fall semester GPAs on record, as well.

The football team had the second highest term GPA on record in the spring and now has the highest cumulative GPA in program history, hitting the 3.0 mark for the first time in school history.

This is the ninth straight semester the CU student-athletes have hit the 3.0 mark for a semester with seven of those nine semesters coming in above a 3.1 GPA. A total of 13 teams hit the 3.0 mark with 12 of them coming in above a 3.1 and 11 above a 3.2 GPA. Cumulatively, 14 teams have a 3.0 GPA with 13 above a 3.1 and 11 above a 3.2 GPA.

Other highlights include:
  • Women's Golf had a 3.640 for the second straight semester, setting the highest fall and spring GPA on record, the program's 28th consecutive semester over a 3.0 and 13th over a 3.2.
  • Women's Ski had a 3.547 GPA, the 46th consecutive semester over a 3.0 and 25th consecutive over a 3.3.
  • Women's Cross Country had a 3.546 GPA, the program's 40th consecutive semester over a 3.0.
  • Men's Ski had 3.541 GPA, the 28th consecutive semester over a 3.0 and 12th consecutive over a 3.2.
  • Women's Track & Field had a 3.490, the 31st consecutive semester over a 3.0.
  • Lacrosse had a 3.461 GPA, the 20th consecutive semester over a 3.0 and 14th over a 3.2.
  • Volleyball had 3.371, the 11th consecutive semester over a 3.0.
  • Tennis had a 3.330, the 11th consecutive semester over a 3.2.
  • Men's Cross Country had a 3.0 GPA for the eighth time in the last nine semester.
  • Men's Golf had above a 3.0 for the seventh straight semester.
  • Women's Basketball had above a 3.0 for the 10th consecutive semester
  • Men's Track & Field had its highest spring on record after having the best fall, as well, the ninth consecutive semester over a 3.0..
  • Women's Soccer had the program's 30th semester above a 3.0 in the last 31 semesters.
  • Football had the second-highest term GPA on record and now boasts above a 3.0 cumulative GPA for the first time in CU history
