2024-25 Coaching Carousel

Have seen some other folks that think they’re meeting to adjust his salary to increase the assistant pool.
He has an automatic 5th year rollover that many say will be eliminated to put pressure on him. It will save them money if he is fired next year. He is being given a lot of rope

I feel bad for New Mexico
Locals in ABQ are so pissed and feel betrayed.

I get it. One year. And it's a guy who constantly talks about family, loyalty, etc.

But here's the thing. The UNM job isn't the same job that he signed up for.

1. MWC split and UNM got left at the kids table. It's a lower tier job now than it was a year ago. What does this mean for recruiting? Future revenue? A path to the playoffs with a conference championship?

2. The AD who hired him left to become the Houston AD in August. UNM announced a new AD at the beginning of the week. Word is that while the President updated Bronco on the hiring process, they didn't involve him or seek his input and that caused some annoyance.

So when a college that made the adult table in the MWC, located an hour from where he's from in his home state, and culturally filled with fellow LDS folks (including boosters he will connect with through the Temple)... offers him a new job for more money, then I think anyone looking at it rationally says, "Of course he took the job. He'd have been stupid not to."

And he can routinely kick BSU and CSU’s ass…I’m all for it.

If Oklahoma State opens up, the guy they should target is Dan Mullen. I'm actually surprised that UCF didn't make him their top target.

The question is whether OSU is a good job anymore. Supposedly, they don't have **** for NIL, but that could have also been due to Gundy's lack of enthusiasm and embracing of this new era.

I’m interested to see who they would hire. I think the Big 12 wants them to be our rival

I wonder if whatever Pickens left in a trust for OSU is not legally able to be used for NIL.

Sounds like something someone would say if the discussions were a bid to gain leverage for NFL offers.
Ah yes, a clause guaranteeing the next head coach (who also happens to be the offered coach's son). What could go wrong?

That's a disaster waiting to happen
