(I plan on continuing to use and update this thread and post as, hopefully, the Buffs advance in the tournament.)

It's a few days until Buff women's basketball (21-8 overall; 11-7 in Pac 12 play), ranked #13 in last week's AP (media) poll (so before Saturday's loss to WSU), have their 1st game (and it's the 1st game of the tourney overall) at the 2024 Pac 12 Tournament as they face off at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with the #12 seed Oregon Ducks (11-20, 2-16) early Wednesday afternoon.
(The winner is scheduled to play at the same time the next day (Thursday) against the #4 seed and #11 ranked Oregon State Beavers.)

All tournament games until the final are scheduled to be on the Pac 12 Networks, while Sunday afternoon's final will be on ESPN. (Links and more information about coverage for each CU game is further down in this post.)

In the current NET rankings (dated 3/2/24, https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-women/d1/ncaa-womens-basketball-net-rankings), CU is #19, while the Ducks are at #95. (Potential 2nd round opponent OSU is at #17.)

We should beat Oregon. They ARE the worst team in the Pac.

The question is will we beat Oregon? The game still has to be played and it's not guaranteed with the way they have played the last 3 weeks.

Yup - The Buffs need a mental adjustment or they will be out of the conference tourney quickly.

The reward for winning v Oregon will be a third game v Oregon State. And we know that the Buffs have not had a lot of success this season when facing the Beavers. (Don't know if Reagan Beers is healthy or not.)

At this moment I am pessimistic about CU's ability to win more than about two more games total this season. Win in the first round of the conference and NCAA tourneys and lose in the second round of both.

BOULDER. – Colorado graduate point guard Jaylyn Sherrod has been named the 2024 Pac-12 Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year the conference announced on Monday.

Sherrod will graduate this spring with her third degree from the University of Colorado. She graduated in three years with a 3.83 GPA and her bachelor's degree in Sociology. She completed her first master's last year in Organizational Leadership and is now pursuing her second master's in Criminal Justice. Sherrod is currently maintaining a 3.93 GPA this season and a combined 3.82 GPA in her two years of graduate studies.

The Birmingham, Ala., native, is a three-time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll honoree and a 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection. She was awarded the Byron R. White Leadership and Initiative Award in 2022, which is awarded annually to those student-athletes who have exhibited outstanding initiative and demonstrated a strong commitment to service to the CU and Boulder communities. Sherrod is also a three-time Dean's List, a nine-time AD's Honor Roll honoree and a 4.0 Club (2023) member.

On the court, Sherrod is averaging a career-high 12.8 points per game this season. She became just the third player in CU women's basketball history to have over 1,000 career points (1,417) and 600 assists (609). She scored a career-high 34 points in CU's win over then No. 12 Utah and handed out a career-high 13 assists against UT Arlington. This season she has earned multiple national Player of the Week honors and has been listed on various Player of the Year watch lists, including the Drysdale, Wooden and Naismith Awards.

Sherrod is the 10th Colorado student-athlete to earn Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors and the first since Eliza Cahil (lacrosse) in 2021.

The Pac-12 Conference established the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards in 2007-08 to recognize its outstanding senior student-athletes. To be eligible the student-athlete must be in their final year of eligibility, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, participate in at least 50% of the scheduled contests in the sport and have a minimum of one year in residence at the institution.

Each Pac-12 institution nominates one individual per sport, and the winners are selected by a committee of Pac-12 staff members after each sport's regular season. The athletic accomplishments of the nominees are considered in the voting for the award.

LAS VEGAS – Five Colorado women's basketball players accounted for a total of six Pac-12 postseason honors to open Pac-12 Tournament Week on Tuesday.

Graduate Jaylyn Sherrod and junior Aaronette Vonleh earned All-Conference honors, while Sherrod secured her third All-Defensive team selection. Senior Frida Formann and graduate Quay Miller both earned honorable mention All-Conference honors. Junior Kindyll Wetta rounds out the group with her honorable mention All-Defensive team nod.

"I'm very proud of all our players but definitely excited for those who have been recognized with All-Pac-12 honors," head coach JR Payne commented. "To be listed among the best in the conference is truly a testament to their individual and collective hard work over the years."

Buffs Open Pac-12 Tournament on Wednesday

The fifth-seeded and 18th-ranked Buffaloes arrived in Las Vegas Monday evening in preparation for the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament. Colorado (21-8, 11-7 Pac-12) will open the tournament on Wednesday (1 p.m. MT), taking on the 12th-seeded Oregon Ducks (11-20, 2-16 Pac-12).

The Buffs enter the Pac-12 Tournament with 20 wins for the third straight season. Prior to 2021-22, CU had not entered the conference tournament with at least 20 wins since the 2012-13 season (24). Colorado also enters the tournament with 10 conference wins for the second consecutive season.

CU's resume this season includes four wins over ranked opponents, matching last year's total. Of those for wins, three came against top-10 opponents. The Buffs began the year ranked 20th in the nation but launched up to No. 5 after the team's opening-night win over No. 1 LSU. Colorado climbed as high as No. 3 in the rankings this season, its highest since finishing No. 2 in the 1994-95 season. The Buffs have been ranked in 24 consecutive AP polls dating back to Feb. 6, 2023. It is the program's fourth-longest streak.

This is the second time in the last three seasons that CU has been the 5th seed in the Pac-12 Tournament. Colorado went 2-1 in 2022 as the No. 5 seed, getting wins over No. 12 Washington State and No. 4 Arizona before falling in the semifinals to No. 1 Stanford.

The matchup with the Ducks will be just the second meeting between the two schools in the Pac-12 Tournament. No. 1-seeded Oregon got the better of the No. 9 Buffs, 84-47, in the quarterfinals of the 2018 tournament in Seattle. The Buffs swept Oregon in the season series and have won the last four meetings against the Ducks.

Oregon enters the tournament on a 13-game losing streak, its longest in program history. The Ducks have played 12 games against ranked opponents this season, which is the most out of any team in the country this season. Oregon is 16-20 all-time in the Pac10/12 Tournament and has two tournament championships in 2018 and 2020.

The winner will advance to Thursday's quarterfinals against fourth-seeded Oregon State (1 p.m. MT).

Charlie Creme is of the opinion that the Buffs need to win at least two games in the conference tourney if they want to host. The lost to Washington State was a killer.

Creme: Colorado was a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament selection committee's first reveal 2½ weeks ago. The Buffaloes are now fighting to stay in the top 16. They managed to survive four straight losses and get slotted at No. 13 overall in the second reveal on Feb. 29 because all those losses were to other top-16 teams.

But the buffer is gone after they lost at home to Washington State on Saturday. An early exit in the Pac-12 tournament -- even if it comes to a good team in Oregon State in the quarterfinals -- will bounce the Buffs from a seed in the top 16.
 
Just following on the game cast. This looks like a very strange game. No scoring halfway through Q2 yet but still up 15?
 
The commercials on pac-12 network are beyond annoying, but at least they're playing them all twice, back to back
