Colorado will be represented by three individuals and a relay team at the national meet.

The first event for the Buffs comes at 4:20 p.m. MT with the men's mile preliminary round, featuring Isaiah Givens and Justine Kipkoech. Kipkoech will compete in the first heat, while Givens will race in the second.

Givens enters the meet as the top seed in the event after running a nation-leading time of 3:51.73 at the Potts Invitational in January. He is also the top returning finisher in the field after placing fifth at last year's NCAA Indoor Championships in a time of 3:54.84. Kipkoech qualified for the national meet with a season-best time of 3:53.05 and finished the regular season ranked No. 12 nationally.

Avery Pearson will follow in the women's 800-meter preliminary at 5:25 p.m. MT. Pearson will race in the second heat against a competitive field that includes top seed Gladys Chepngetich of Clemson, who enters the meet with a season-best time of 1:58.81. Pearson qualified for the championship after running a program-record 1:59.98 at the Colorado Last Chance meet and recently captured the Big 12 title in the 600 yards.

The evening concludes for the Buffs with the men's distance medley relay at 7:30 p.m. MT. The quartet of Kipkoech, Danny Tragarz, Drew Costelow and Givens earned their spot at nationals after running a school-record time of 9:19.00@ at the Colorado Last Chance meet. TJ Hansen and Kole Mathison are listed as alternates for the relay.

The top 10 finishers in the men's mile preliminaries will advance to Saturday's final, with the top four finishers from each heat automatically qualifying along with the next two fastest times. In the women's 800-meter preliminaries, the top three finishers from each heat plus the next two fastest times will advance to the final, making up eight finalists. The distance medley relay will be contested as a final on Friday night as the NCAA crowns its 2026 indoor national champions.

Pearson Named to Team Canada for 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships

By: Lauren Cawley, Communications Associate

BOULDER –
Colorado middle-distance standout Avery Pearson has been named to Team Canada for the 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships, Athletics Canada announced Monday.

Pearson will represent Canada in the women's 800 meters at the global championship meet. The 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships are scheduled to take place March 20–22 in Kujawy Pomorze, Poland, at Arena Torun.

The selection caps a historic indoor season for the Colorado senior. Earlier this year, Pearson became the first Buff to break the two-minute barrier indoors in the 800 meters, running 1:59.98 at altitude, a new Colorado program record.

Her raw time of 2:00.76 ranks No. 6 all-time in Canadian indoor history and No. 3 among NCAA indoor performances run at altitude.

Pearson also captured the 600-yard title at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, winning the event in meet-record fashion and further cementing her place among the top middle-distance runners in the country.

Pearson will compete in the women's 800 meters this weekend at the NCAA Indoor Championships, with the first round scheduled for Friday, March 13 at 5:25 p.m. MT, where she will look to challenge the Canadian indoor record of 1:59.87.

The indoor season completed tonight for CU. The Distance Medley Team did earn an 8th place finish, so earning a point and earning All-American honors for the 4 runners. The 3 CU individuals competing didn't advance to the finals, with 2 of them (Pearson and Givens) unfortunately JUST missing as the fastest runners NOT to qualify.

One thing with track is the seasons blend into each other, and CU is already scheduled to immediately switch over to OUTDOOR season mode (for which I'll start a thread soon) next weekend in Pueblo.

Buffs Earn All-American Honors in DMR at NCAA Indoor Championships

By: Lauren Cawley, Communications Associate

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –
The Buffaloes wrapped up the 2026 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, highlighted by an All-American performance from the men's distance medley relay.

The Buffaloes' distance medley relay of TJ Hansen, Danny Tragarz, Drew Costelow and Justine Kipkoech placed eighth overall to earn First Team All-American honors. Entering the meet ranked No. 12 nationally, the quartet stayed in strong contention throughout the race before Kipkoech anchored the Buffs to the top-eight finish.

Isaiah Givens also competed for Colorado in the men's mile, finishing 11th overall in a season-best time of 3:57.76. Givens narrowly missed advancing to the final by one spot, as the final qualifying mark came in at 3:57.48.

In the women's 800 meters, Avery Pearson also just missed the final. Pearson ran one of her strongest races of the season, finishing sixth overall in 2:02.92. Despite the performance, the qualifying format awarded the automatic spots from the other heat, leaving Pearson just outside the eight-runner final.

Friday's competition concludes the indoor season for the Buffaloes.
