Buffs Set for NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville

BOULDER – The Colorado Buffaloes arrived in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Wednesday morning ahead of the 2026 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
The two-day national championship begins Friday, March 13, with events starting at 4 p.m. MT and streaming live on ESPN+.

Colorado will be represented by three individuals and a relay team at the national meet.
The first event for the Buffs comes at 4:20 p.m. MT with the men's mile preliminary round, featuring Isaiah Givens and Justine Kipkoech. Kipkoech will compete in the first heat, while Givens will race in the second.
Givens enters the meet as the top seed in the event after running a nation-leading time of 3:51.73 at the Potts Invitational in January. He is also the top returning finisher in the field after placing fifth at last year's NCAA Indoor Championships in a time of 3:54.84. Kipkoech qualified for the national meet with a season-best time of 3:53.05 and finished the regular season ranked No. 12 nationally.
Avery Pearson will follow in the women's 800-meter preliminary at 5:25 p.m. MT. Pearson will race in the second heat against a competitive field that includes top seed Gladys Chepngetich of Clemson, who enters the meet with a season-best time of 1:58.81. Pearson qualified for the championship after running a program-record 1:59.98 at the Colorado Last Chance meet and recently captured the Big 12 title in the 600 yards.
The evening concludes for the Buffs with the men's distance medley relay at 7:30 p.m. MT. The quartet of Kipkoech, Danny Tragarz, Drew Costelow and Givens earned their spot at nationals after running a school-record time of 9:19.00@ at the Colorado Last Chance meet. TJ Hansen and Kole Mathison are listed as alternates for the relay.
The top 10 finishers in the men's mile preliminaries will advance to Saturday's final, with the top four finishers from each heat automatically qualifying along with the next two fastest times. In the women's 800-meter preliminaries, the top three finishers from each heat plus the next two fastest times will advance to the final, making up eight finalists. The distance medley relay will be contested as a final on Friday night as the NCAA crowns its 2026 indoor national champions.

BOULDER – Colorado middle-distance standout Avery Pearson has been named to Team Canada for the 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships, Athletics Canada announced Monday.
Pearson will represent Canada in the women's 800 meters at the global championship meet. The 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships are scheduled to take place March 20–22 in Kujawy Pomorze, Poland, at Arena Torun.
The selection caps a historic indoor season for the Colorado senior. Earlier this year, Pearson became the first Buff to break the two-minute barrier indoors in the 800 meters, running 1:59.98 at altitude, a new Colorado program record.
Her raw time of 2:00.76 ranks No. 6 all-time in Canadian indoor history and No. 3 among NCAA indoor performances run at altitude.
Pearson also captured the 600-yard title at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, winning the event in meet-record fashion and further cementing her place among the top middle-distance runners in the country.
Pearson will compete in the women's 800 meters this weekend at the NCAA Indoor Championships, with the first round scheduled for Friday, March 13 at 5:25 p.m. MT, where she will look to challenge the Canadian indoor record of 1:59.87.
