Come Here Lets Go GIF by The Late Late Show with James Corden

The recipe at WR has been to go get proven guys from a USF or other school. Taking the former 4 star WR's who couldn't get on the field somewhere else has not worked out. We also have alot of 4 Star WR guys currently who are either young or haven't made much of an impact here that should get an opportunity. Kam, D.Miller, Gibson, and Q.

Assuming J.Williams and O.Miller come back you already have a fairly full WR room. I don't think we should be looking at any underclassmen Wr's unless someone is leaving. We have H.Williams also still I think.

I assume he RS in 2024 and looks like he saw action in one game this season (blowout win) where he had 1 rec for 17 yards.

I get that Texas is a talent laden program, but just doesn't look like he stood out or made any traction in that WR room

Purely conjecture on my part here, but in order to stand out in the WR room at Texas, you have to be able to block. Something the 2024 group of WRs here did very well and the 2025 group was pretty pathetic at. In 2024, Jimmy and Travis both were down for blocking for the short pass / run game.

That can often be a big adjustment for a young WR.

Butler will be a RS Soph next year? (After getting through the vetting process) why not bring him in for depth and development?

With the volatility of NIL and transfer portal, anything can happen. I'd prefer to load the coffers with talent and allow a guy to explode on to the scene. Butler's HS tape and production was legit!

I think it's just a numbers thing. I'm just not interested in brining in more WR's when we have a room of 5-7 guys already plus 2 Freshman coming in. If someone leaves... then fine... but we are pretty full at WR unless the person wanting to come here is either A. an NFL draft talent looking for more playing time or B. a highly productive player looking to ball out his last year like a Horn, Weaver, Sheppard , etc did in the past.

I’ll take him. Maybe CP ends up moving him to corner. Maybe he lights it up as a WR. If he’s 2-3 string we’ve lost nothing.
I think the new idea is that if we take guys like this with a lot of former talent, they also come at a cost of NIL funds... and since we can't even fill a roster out of 90 guys on scholarship. There is a loss to take on guys who end up 3rd string at their position.

Now if he can also play DB. I'd be more interested as we have a huge hole at DB talent in my opinion.

I think he played both in high school and was looked at as a WR/CB. He wanted to play WR.
