As of now, five Pac-12 teams are ranked in the rivals top 25 team recruiting rankings, with another just outside the top 30:
5. USC-The Trojans continue to assert their dominance in-state, with seven of California's top ten prospects in the fold. Obviously things could change dramatically come summer/fall if they have to drop certain players.
6. Oregon-The Ducks are capitalizing on two straight BCS bowl appearances with a true national recruiting effort, yet they did not have to go far to find the highest rated player in their class, 5* in-stater Colt Lyerla. The Ducks have also grabbed two of the top five players in Arizona and a top five player from California.
16. Cal-Super recruiter Tosh Lupoi is once again playing an integral role in bringing a top class to Berkeley. He is the primary recruiter for five of Cal's nine 4* commitments, including four along the DL.
21. Stanford-Jim Harbaugh's departure has resulted in the Cardinal losing some verbals, but the hiring of David Shaw seems to have prevented wholesale defections. Like Oregon, the Cardinal have employed a national recruiting effort.
24. Washington-Steve Sarkisian and his staff are using their California connections to the fullest while also locking down the top in-state prospects. The top three Washington prep players are all committed to the Huskies and the Huskies also have commitments from 13 Californians.
32. Utah-The Utes will enter the Pac-12 with a solid recruiting class, built on a strong in-state foundation. The Utes have commitments from eight in-state players, including six of the top ten.
The notable absence from this list? That would be UCLA. Turmoil on the coaching staff has resulted in a lackluster recruiting effort for the Bruins, who currently have only eight commits, only one being a 4-star. Arizona and Arizona State also appear to be having off years as well.
Hopefully, this list in 2012 will include the Buffs!
