ELDORA, Colo. – The RMISA alpine teams kick off the 2013 season Monday with the University of Colorado Spencer James Nelson Memorial Invitational here at the Eldora Ski Resort.
With plenty of returning talent on the men’s side, the real question to be answered early in the 2013 season is which female newcomers will make the biggest impact. Only 13 of the top 30 skiers in terms of start list points return on the women’s side, compared to 21 of the top 30 men returning. On the slalom start list, nine of the top 10 women have departed collegiate skiing for one reason or another.
The meet will kick off Monday with an RMISA Giant Slalom Qualifier followed by the giant slalom as part of the CU Invitational Tuesday and the season’s first slalom races slated for Wednesday.
Top returners on the men’s side include:
Alaska Anchorage: Andreas Adde, Niko Harmanen, Chris Kollenborg
Colorado: Adam Zika (injured), Andreas Haug, Max Lamb, Fletcher McDonald
Denver: Espen Lysdahl, Max Marno, Luke Laidlaw, Trevor Philp, Charlie Reynolds, Kit Flowers
Montana State: Mike Radford, David Owlsey, Mike Mackie
New Mexico: Armin Triendl, Michael Bansmer, Chris Acosta, Joonas Rasanen, Juko-Pekka Penttinnen
Utah: Ryan Wilson, Tim Hribar

And although it’s nearly impossible to tell early in the season, the top newcomers look to be:
Alaska Anchorage: Cedrik Gagnon
Colorado: Cameron Smith, Henrik Gunnarson, Kasper Hietanen
Denver: Grant Jampolsky (returns from injury), Taylor Shiffrin
Utah: Andy Trow, Jeremy Elliott (returns from injury)
