Big Hawkins Rumor- I Have No Link- but ......

Maybe all the guys coming in for the 1990 MNC celebration told Bohn that they'd kick his ass if he didn't fire Hawkins.

Yeah, I'm going with that one. Makes sense.

Truthfully, I don't care if it makes sense or not. Just fire his ass.

God I hate stupid ass bull**** rumors like these. Why the **** would we fire Hawk who is 2-1, and going into a week with a big home game celebrating the national championship team. That would totally take away the attention from that. Stupid ass Idahoans!

Moreover, if you're going to replace a coach in midseason, why would you wait until AFTER your bye week to bring in a new coach and give him less than a week to prepare for the next game?

HaHa, in a weird ****ed up world, announcing Mac as the new coach and celebrating the '90 team at the same time makes sense.

Why post this? It isn't happening. Mac's chance at a second go-round was after the nebraska game. Bohn got undercut and now we are stuck with coach simple jack until the end of the year.

If last year didn't do it, the only way that Hawk gets fired mid-season if either he implodes in front of the media and gets so embarrasing that he can't continue to be ignored or if the team has a series of huge loses and the big money guys are able to put enough pressure on to force a change.

As nutty and out of touch as most of what Hawk says now is the first is still highly unlikely. The second is much more likely but at 2-1 it certainly doesn't apply at the moment. It may be more likely in a few weeks when we are in the heart of the schedule and not playing teams like Hawaii and CSU. It may also help that the election will then be over reducing the chance of political backlash for the payout (which gets smaller every week they wait.)

Maybe as bad as a APR hit is the hit of NO RECRUITING CLASS!! You think they are seeing that we have to recruits interested, nobody coming in to visit (no 4 and 5 stars at least) and will get hammered like dog **** with this class unless something is done?

Yeah, probably not.

The really scary thing is that Mike Bohn is supposedly one of the main candidates for the Kansas Athletic Director position. If Bohn leaves Colorado - will CU have the guts to make a coaching change with no athletic director?

Any links for that? Or just Internet rumors you've heard?

But gotta agree, tough to see a coaching change w/o an AD in place. However, once a new AD is in place, he usually brings in a new HC!

It was in the Greeley tribune a couple weeks ago.

And Kansas.com speculates about three finalists, including MB.
Mike Bohn, Colorado athletics director
You know about Bohn, the former Kansas quarterback who recently orchestrated Colorado’s move from the Big 12. Bohn, in accepting a Pac-10 invite, proved that he can and will do what is necessary to keep his school on high ground — a skill that, with the still uncertain future of the Big 12, could be a valuable asset for Kansas. Bohn’s biggest deterrent would be that accepting the job could be viewed as a lateral move.
But they also mention UNC's athletic director, so who knows, really.

Bonus Trivia question (from Denver Post): What sports, and at what positions in those sports, did CU athletic director Mike Bohn play as an undergraduate at Kansas?

Trivia answer: Bohn was a backup quarterback on the Jayhawks’ football team in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In baseball, he was a you-name-it player, trying his hand at pitcher, designated hitter, right fielder and first baseman.
A Boulder High grad, Bohn will tell you that he wasn’t very good at KU in either sport but had a lot of fun participating in Division I athletics.

Bohn going to KU makes about as much sense as CU firing Hawk today and replacing him with Mike Leach. Ain't gonna happen. Bohn is only linked as a possible candidate because of his affiliation with KU. Here's the thing, though: Bohn is a Boulder native. Anybody who speculates about him going to KU doesn't know this.

Plus KU wouldn't be a lateral move. It's a step down. KU is in the Mack 10 - a dying conference. No way does Bohn want to have to deal with that mess. Nobody would.

He wouldn't want to,.. But doubling his salary probably would increase his interest

If you think we have money problems at CU, what about KU? They never get on TV, their basketball program is great, but when your basketball program is bringing in the lion's share of the revenues, you got problems.

Only way this has legs is the fired for cause portion of his contract was met or did something terrible.

Essentially, he'd have to have an Alabamaish Mike Price publicly embarrassing incident (sadly losing on the road since 2007 doesn't qualify though a good lawyer could probably argue it does) to meet the fired for cause portion. That leaves a behind closed doos gaff thats inexcusable such as insubordination.

Either way, the Denver media has many many more unnamed sources than the Boise Rivals board does. This would have been in the local news by now if it had legs.
