He's going to take care of the rebuilding year to set the table for the program.

One of the all-time under-appreciated greats.

As a fan, I may have bitched about some of the low scores and the entertainment value of his brand of basketball for the average fan... but as a lover of the game I marveled at the efficiencies he was able to achieve on both ends of the court. The consistency of his program in a power conference without having McDonald's AAs filling his roster was legendary. Definite (and well-deserved) Hall of Famer.

Classy to stick around for year 1 of rebuild. Ryan was a great Badger and the perfect replacement for Bennett (well forget about the Solderberg year). Excited to start speculating on his replacement.

Unless Tony Bennett decides to ;eave a great job at Virginia, It'll be long-time (20+years) assistant Greg Gard. That's what Barry Alvarez did when he retired assigning the job to top assistant Bret Bielema despite opposition from the University and some donors.

I would be fairly surprised if Bennett left. He certainly loves Wisconsin, but indications are he and his family are well settled in. And it's not like Virginia's facilities or anything are lacking.

Saw that he was back off retirement in our local paper yesterday. Where I live, people are either Iowa or Wisconsin fans.
