Whether he stays in school or not, losing football seems like a huge punishment for that kid. Giving him the opportunity to attend classes and maybe graduate is somewhere between tough love and additional punishment.

It will be interesting to see if he DOES stay in class.

If a student assaulted another student on campus, and was arrested by police, he would be suspended at the least or possibly expelled. He's lucky as hell to still be in school with a scholarship on top of it. Just because it happened on the football field doesn't make it any different.

I agree.

The first reports said he was not arrested and Boise police weren't filing charges. Did that change?
The football team stated they would not pull his scholly. (but he's off the team)
However, the university administration may well see it differently to suspend or expel him, although if no charges are filed, I think they have to wait for due process since it didn't occur on Oregon's campus.

Any law dogs know how it goes?
