Bracketology 2013/2014

Just saw on the bottomline that CU was a "lock" according to Lunardi. I guess we can rest easy... Eammon Brennan however doesn't have us as a lock in Bubble Watch.

Gotta win tommroow. It's kinda scary how everyone is counting that game as a gimme. I hope the team realizes how important this game is.

I don't sense that at all. I think most expect them to win, but I don't think anyone is treating this like it's Jackson State.

I think the consensus is even if we lose tomorrow we'll be in the tournament, but we don't want to chance it.

Trust me, the team knows it's important.

And I don't want to say if we lose, we "deserve" to be out of the tournament but we have a chance to avoid any bad losses and the game against Cal is another chance to improve our resume -- first things first though.

Without Spencer I think this team shows up to prove themselves every single game. Sometimes it doesn't work out, but I haven't seen a lack of effort in any game I've watched.

Villanova just lost to Seton Hall. They can forget about a 1-seed. This might drop them to the 3 line.

Awesome game. Been flipping between that and the Farm War on ESPN2 all morning.

KSU's record is miserable outside of Manhattan.

Too many good wins at home (plus the neutral over Gonzaga) to miss the Dance. But there's no way they should be seeded ahead of CU. They might deserve Dayton. Resume looks like that of a 12-seed.

Yeah, I'm not remotely implying they should miss the Dance. I just question whether they deserve the 8/9 seed they're almost unanimously seen as. Beating TCU and Texas Tech away and Long Beach St on a neutral court is all they have to offer. Since the tournament isn't played on a home court, that's a big red flag.

They lost to UNC at home too! GO BEARS!

Agreed, but the Big XII will get pumped up a bit this year because instead of people realizing that OSU and Baylor underachieved, they'll say that the other teams were better than expected.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to return to praying that we don't end up in an 8/9 matchup against KSU.

Houston upsets SMU. SMU was seen as a 10 seed before this loss. Mustangs will get in, but may drop to an 11.

SMU had a chance of grabbing a 6-seed despite a resume that didn't justify it. That #25 ranking in the AP was going to cause them to be over-seeded if they made the AAC finals (or even the semis).

Their defense is truely unbelievable

Tad needs to make his team watch UofA. The Cats defense, rebounding and intensity is what the Buffs should being emulating for Tad Ball. Unfortunately, there are 2-3 Buff players who like to go through the motions.

The game to keep an eye on right now is Purdue vs #24 Ohio State on BTN. Buckeyes could fall behind CU in RPI and seeding with a loss.

Team that's playing exceptionally well lately and has quietly crept up to #5 in the polls: Louisville. Watch out for the Cards in the Dance.

But if Purdue wins, then it gives Nebraska an easy win in the next round. And the fact that I'm going to have to cheer for someone in the Purdue/Ohio State vs Nebraska game is proof that God doesn't exist.

One hell of an entertaining finish to the Purdue - Ohio State game.

But, dammit, Purdue.

I hate to insult any program by saying this, but they Coug'd it today.

In the last minute of the game:

Grabbed defensive rebound while down 1. Purdue big held it low and let an Ohio State guard run in to steal it.

Down 2 with 12 seconds, fumbled an exchange at the 3pt line and gave up an Ohio State steal.

Ohio State didn't make its free throws, though, so Purdue went to the line down 3 with 2.8 seconds left.

Made the first.

Intentionally missed the 2nd.

Ohio State knocked the rebound out of bounds with 1.2 seconds left.

Purdue misses a wide open 3pt attempt.

Buckeyes escape.

Memphis (who Lunardi has CU playing in Milwaukee in today's update) is playing UConn right now. Buffs could also draw UConn, less likely as they're probably more like a 6 though.

Also, does anyone manipulate the RPI better than Southern Miss?

Top 35 again this year despite not having a win that's going to turn any heads. Best win was a 9-point margin over LA Tech at home. Only decent OOC game they played resulted to a 38-69 beatdown from Louisville.
