Buffs to NFL in 2020

I think KD will need to look at the other WRs in the class and make a determination as to how he fits in with that group. He could be the third best WR to come out of CU this year.

Based on KD's brother's tweet, he'll try to go to the NFL, but may end up in Canada, or whereever he can continue playing.

Pete Thamel is pretty plugged in and spoke with several scouts for this article. He mentions eight potential first round QB's and Montez is one of them. He won't actually go first round...too many flaws and this class of QB's is very strong. But seems like a good possibility he'll go earlier than most people on here seem to think.

The Montez that showed up in Tempe is NFL ready.

The Montez that showed up against Air Force doesn’t get an invite to the combine.

It’s up to Montez to show NFL scouts which one they can expect.

You cant be THAT inconsistent in the NFL. Its not about having one great game, consistency is much more important. If he has 4 more games like ASU and 4 more like air force this season, hes not going to get drafted.

I think it’s almost a lock Montez will get drafted regardless what he does the rest of the year. He has the size and arm scouts love. There will be a team that will think they can fix his bi-polar decision making with coaching.

If I'm Viska, I'm gone, especially if I'm dealing with an injury. It's just like Dinwiddie - if you're going to rehab and risk further injury, do it when you're getting paid to do so. Plus, he has nothing further to prove. If scouts are going to knock him for being injury-prone, coming back for another season isn't going to change that. He's already gotten hurt and missed time more than once in college, so it is what it is at this point.

As far as KD - man, he needs to finish his education. Maybe he gets a look as a UDFA, maybe he makes a 53-man roster, but I don't see him lasting long in the NFL. Make sure you get your degree, then go chase your pro football dream. He's not going to get the coin Viska is going to get.
Meh, he should be pretty close to graduation after this season. I don’t see a reason to wait if the NFL is his dream. CU isn’t going away and NFL careers are fleeting.

People are acting like K.D. can’t come back and finish a degree later if things don’t work out. He won’t be banished from all universities if he leaves early for the draft

I think stefanou gonna get drafted if he continues to perform like he has. Hes great on kick offs and doesnt get rattled by pressure on clutch kicks. And hes not getting any younger, staying for his senior year does nothing to help his pro prospects

KD doesn't have eye-popping skills as a WR, but would go in rounds 6, 7, or FA just based on speed alone as a return guy. Some team will convince itself it will coach up his WR ability. He'll look good at a pro day.

32 Teams in the league, all he needs is one to fall in love with his athletic ability and his size enough to draft him to make sure nobody else gets him. With his size and arm strength don't have any question that multiple teams won't want to take a shot on him.

I agree. I think Steven will go in rounds 3, 4, or 5. Teams will rationalize that he had erratic coaching most of his career and will take a chance. His combine work will be the difference between rounds 3 or 5.....

Is KD close to getting his degree? If so, is it possible that he might grad-transfer to be the featured receiver someplace, and possibly increase his draft stock?

Just curious.

If KD plays college football, he’ll stay at Colorado. He’ll be a senior starter at CU with several coaches who he really enjoys.

It means something, but the draft board for QBs is probably more volatile than any other position. Gauging the board in late September is really tough.

You could really see the connection between KD and Mel T at the joint presser they had recently.

I know Mtn mentioned them, briefly, but I think both Stefanou and Kinney make a roster next year. They’re both having great years. The NFL typically doesn’t draft kickers and punters, but I would be shocked if both don’t sign somewhere and stick.

Viska should definitely go into the draft, get paid while his body will allow him to, imho. Dude is physical as hell, takes a toll even with his size and what not. KD, idk? Think he still needs to work on a few things. I couldn't fault him, if he did decide to make the jump, though. The cool thing for both is their coach has spent time in the league, he'd give them sound advice about doing that.

Seems like recently teams have been more willing to spend a late round pick on a specialist than they used to.

Stefanou based on performance probably deserves to get drafted but teams could choose not to because of his age. Dumb though because kickers can last late into their 30's so he is likely to play as many or more years for them than most late draft choices would.
