Hemingway was one of my favorite players when I was a kid. Dude was a friggin beast. Not having him in the first ND game hurt.

My dad still has the grass we pulled up after we went on the field after the 2001 NU game in a cup from the game, that picture in the frame is awesome though.
ah. the opener in the nc year... i was mortally certain after the great run the previous year (only to lose to nd in the orange bowl, costing us the nc) that this would be our year.
we had a full contingent in anaheim that day. CU was clearly the better team but made a ton of mistakes. eb was benched for some disciplinary reason and mike pritchard moved from flanker to tb and he went for like 200+ yards. that gives you an idea of some of the athletes we had.
we let tennessee hang around and hang around. didn't close them out.
when they went for the tie with time running out, rather than the win, i nearly burst a vein screaming at johnny majors that he was a coward. :lol:
i thought our nc dreams were crushed. we ended up starting the season 1-1-1. everything broke our way the last 3 weeks of the season to allow us to get into the nc game. plus, our schedule was so damned brutal that the voters knew the Buffs deserved in.
