CU Regent election can change the future of CU athletics

What he meant to say was "Liberals go to football games and drink IPAs"

Make more sense now?

Party affiliation doesn't mean much when it comes to local or state elections, imho. National party platform is a different animal. I don't care at all if a Regent has a (D) or (R) after his or her name. I care about that candidate's vision for CU and whether it aligns with my own.
Why would it be different at National level? Replace CU with xyz.... If your national candidate doesn't align, your in the wrong party!

Because much of party platform doesn't apply to a CU Regent or my mayor. Whether they're part of a pro choice or prolife party is irrelevant to the job they're running for.

Of course, but not my question. You said : "I care about that candidate's vision for CU and whether it aligns with my own".

Would you not care the same for a national election or would you vote the platform if your party put forth a schmuck?

Personally, I vote for candidates. A lot of people vote for party or platform. I was making the case to that group that for an election like CU Regent the (R) or (D) shouldn't make much difference to them because almost the entirety of the party platform is irrelevant to the job.

Yup. locally, I tend to do the same whenever social issues aren't involved in the position.
