Party affiliation doesn't mean much when it comes to local or state elections, imho. National party platform is a different animal. I don't care at all if a Regent has a (D) or (R) after his or her name. I care about that candidate's vision for CU and whether it aligns with my own.

Why would it be different at National level? Replace CU with xyz.... If your national candidate doesn't align, your in the wrong party!

Because much of party platform doesn't apply to a CU Regent or my mayor. Whether they're part of a pro choice or prolife party is irrelevant to the job they're running for.

Yup. locally, I tend to do the same whenever social issues aren't involved in the position.
