Does This Coach Mac Interview Change Your Mind About Him ?

Different animal. DV didn't have to woo HS officials or sit in the front room of a 17-18 y/o and family and pitch the glories of his organization. He had a g/m help him fill out his staff for big $'s and a cast of many scouting/evaluating talent ready to play for money. I have no doubt Mac can still coach. I'm just not sold it's a guaranteed from-the-git-go success.

The NFL gig is much harder than college coaching. Just ask Spurrier he couldn't hack the late hours or missing his tee times.

NFL coaches prolly do work more, but both are a year-round gig. The diff seems to be that college HC's have to be salesmen, pimping their school and program to all who will hear, and it's year round. Gotta be frustrating to seemingly close the deal just to have a young, immature kid jump ship at the last moment, with no consequence.

Pro coaches have a boat load of folks working for them, and to the players, its a paying job. The only time anyone has to sell anything is with ufa's -- they visit for a few hours with the coaches, staff, et.al., then the bean counters, managers, and agents duke it out for $'s. The coach isn't involved anymore (unless he's also a gm, and we know how that goes).

Point is, college coaches have to deal with these younguns who may change their mind tomorrow based on what flavor of bubblegum they get from their girlfriend.
