In a way it seems like the season is pretty young (to me anyways), but it's already Senior Day weekend for the lax Buffs (3-5, 1-3), as they look to finish their home schedule STRONG by hopefully competing hard and getting wins over the Trojans (6-3, 3-1) and Sun Devils (7-2, 4-1), both of whom defeated the Buffs at their schools' last weekend. (CU's regular season ends with 4 straight road games..)
(Note - Unlike some of the other CU sports (tennis and, to some extent, soccer spring to mind), per the below preview article no general fans are allowed to view either of these games live. (As I wrote previously, I'm GUESSING this may be because of the pretty narrow sidelines on the spectator side of Kittredge Field.?.))
Go Buffs!!!

BOULDER — Although there is over one month until the Pac-12 Conference Tournament, May 5-8, the Colorado lacrosse team will wrap up its home schedule this week at Kittredge Field with a pair of rematches against conference opponents Southern California and Arizona State.
First up, the Buffs (3-5, 1-3 Pac-12) will face USC (6-3, 3-1) on Friday, April 2, at 1 p.m. That game will be streamed for free at CUBuffs.com.
Then on Sunday, April 4, CU will take on ASU (7-2, 4-1), which is also slated for a 1 p.m. opening draw. It will be televised live on Pac-12 Network with Justin Adams providing the play-by-play.
Colorado faced each of these teams last week on the road, suffering losses to both. CU played USC first in L.A. on March 26, and despite a career-high five goals from Zoe Lawless, the Buffs fell 18-12 at McAlister Field. On March 28, Charlie Rudy led CU with seven goals as ASU defeated the Buffs, 16-11, at Sun Devil Stadium.
...
SENIOR DAY: Colorado will honor its 10 seniors and one graduate student on Sunday, April 4, following the game against Arizona State. Those players who will be recognized are Devon Bayer, Eliza Cahill, Anna Collawn, Haley Farella, Sadie Grozier, Zoe Lawless, Julia Lisella, Macaul Mellor, Kate White, Madi Wifall and Aine Williams.
HOME ATTENDANCE POLICY: Colorado lacrosse attendance at Kittredge Field is limited to player and coaches families in accordance with NCAA and PAC-12 spectator policies. All other spectators will be prohibited from attending on-site.
ABOUT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA: The Trojans are currently third in the conference standings after the halfway point with a 3-1 mark. Like CU, they had one game canceled due to COVID-19 protocols, that being against Stanford.
USC ranks in the NCAA top 10 for draw controls per game (17.22, 5th) and Maddie McDaniel's 10.56 draw controls per game leads the country. Through nine games, Izzy McMahon leads USC with 26 points (13g, 13a) and is coming off back-to-back hat trick games. Kelsey Huff has 22 points (17g, 5a) and is third on the team with 14 draw controls.
Ella Heaney tops all Trojans with 20 goals and leads the league with a .667 shot percentage (seventh nationally). Lizzy Wagner leads field players with 18 ground balls and has been disruptive on the crease with 11 caused turnovers. Goalie Riley Hertford leads the team with 23 ground balls. In goal, she is averaging a 42.4 save percentage and has allowed 11.95 goals against.
THE SERIES: USC leads the all-time series 8-3, but the series is tied 2-2 in Boulder. CU won the very first meeting between the two teams in Boulder, which was a 12-11 overtime victory. The Buffs also won a 10-7 decision against the Trojans on April 6, 2018. The last time the two met in Boulder was on March 16, 2019. USC took that game 11-5, but CU won the following game in L.A. on April 5, 2019 (9-8), splitting the 2019 series.
ABOUT ARIZONA STATE: The Sun Devils are currently second behind Stanford in the Pac-12 standings. ASU is 4-1, while the Cardinal is 4-0 as it had its game against USC canceled on March 14.
There are three Sun Devils who have recorded 20 or more goals and eight who have recorded 10 or more goals this season. Carley Adams leads the way with 34, while Kerri Clayton has scored 22. Emily Glagolev ranks third on the team with 20. The Sun Devils are averaging 17.6 goals per game which leads the Pac-12 and are holding their opponents to 11.6 per game. Berkeley Bonneau has played 513:46 minutes in nine games. In that time, she has allowed 99 goals and has made 87 saves for a 46.8 save percentage.
THE SERIES: CU owns a 4-1 mark in the all-time series against ASU as the Sun Devils won their first game against the Buffs on March 28, 2021. Prior to that meeting, the Buffs had not lost to ASU since ASU had become a Division I program.
UP NEXT: The Buffs head to the Bay Area for a pair of games against Stanford and California. CU will first meet up with Stanford on April 9 before playing Cal on April 11.
