BANDON, Ore. — The University of Colorado men’s golf team continued its fine spring play here Sunday as the Buffaloes are in third place after the first round of the 5th Annual Bandon Dunes Championship.
Missouri, ranked No. 49 in the nation, turned a 3-under par 281 team score to own a one shot lead over surprising Utah Valley (ranked No. 179); the Buffs, ranked No. 48, are in third with a 2-over 286 score, with Washington State (288) and No. 39 Oregon (289) rounding out the top five.
The Buffaloes, the defending tournament champion and the only school to finish under par (minus-4 in 2013), spent most of the day hovering around par, briefly at one point 6-over about a third of the way through and at one point 1-under with roughly five holes to play. Colorado’s school record of 12 straight rounds at or under par (10 under, two even), doubling the previous school record, came to an end.
