The football team instituted a system of "accountability groups" this offseason. Coach Kiseau was talking about them during the talk he gave a few weeks ago. Apparently, the team got 8-9 players who 'drafted' their groups. So the guys who would be considered the most reliable & least likely to cause trouble got drafted first, and then down the line. If any person in the group screws up (ditches class, misses a workout, breaks rules, drinking, whatever), then the entire accountability group has to pay the penalty. The purpose of the exercize was two-fold. One, to keep kids out of trouble, and two, to send a message to the guys who were picked last that they have some work to do in order to gain the respect and trust of their teammates.
All indications are that the program is working wonderfully. I guess we haven't heard about any players screwing around this offseason, so it must be doing something.
