This week, I had a chance to sit down and interview Colorado junior guard Askia Booker. There were a lot of good quotes from Booker that I didn't get a chance to use in my story, though. So, here are the leftovers from our interview:

Great tidbits Brian. Its a good reminder to us suburbia folks that most of our basketball team come from backgrounds we mostly only have witnessed in movies or tv shows.

I do hope Askia finishes school strong and has an education to fall back on. I don't doubt he will play professionally and with his focus on the NBA, I wouldn't rule it out. But even in the best case scenario, he'll want that degree to fall back on so he never has to live in the 'hood again.
Sure hope he reaches his dreams and enjoys the ride, wherever it takes him.

I love that kid.

When it's all said & done, he's going to go down as one of the top 10 players in school history. He'll be in the top 10 in scoring, he'll be #1 in wins, he'll (hopefully) have gone to the tourney all four years here, a team leader, the whole thing.

Has become one of my favorite Buffs of all time

My favorite ballplayer. The most tenacious competitor I've ever had the privilege of watching.

You guys said it. That is a great set of articles and makes you love what the kid is all about. Tough, gritty, confident and a kid that you know will suceed. Love me some Ski!
