If Prime Were To Leave

The reason Prime is at CU is because RG gave him the autonomy to do what he wanted. RG was never going to have authority over who he could hire (within reason of course), nor should he.
The idea wasn't that he should have told CP what to do, or threatened to veto hires. It was that RG and CP could have had some heart to hearts. They like and respect each other.
It would never have fit, but if CP had Gary B to talk with these last years, he would have made better decisions - imo

I wish Barnett was involved in an analytical role with the program. Dude knows football.
Gary Barnett is 79 years old and hasn't coached in 20 years. Why does this fanbase continue to look at these type of former Buffs to help fix the program?

I'm not asking him to run stairs with the team and not advocating for him to come back even part time. CP could atleast listen to him. He was here when we were winners and on the staff when we won it all. Might want to include that, while trying g to learn to coach at this level at a place like Colorado.

Everything from player retention, to coach management, to scheme is entirely different from when Barnett was here.

I would suggest that Prime conduct a reasonable, well researched, nationwide search for an offensive coordinator that fits team personnel, is directionally consistent with what Prime wants the offense to look like, and a person in which he has a certain amount of chemistry.

I’m less certain of what to do in the midst of the current season, and whether a mid-year replacement is a good idea or not.

Barnett understands core College Football running schemes, period! Everywhere he has been when involved as the OC or coach, they could run the ball. Gurode is on staff and likely looks at Shurmur’s offense like WTF. 62-36, run the freaking ball correctly to set up either Salter or Juju.

Amazing how not crisp a Shurmur offense is

Would be good for CP to hit up a couple of accomplished college coaches to give it to him straight. This is what GB could offer. Also, ain't he good friends with that Nick Sabin guy?

Yeah and Barnes and Noble used to be a big thing but they ain't anymore. There are tons of bright bright minds in football that aren't damn near 80 years old and haven't been out of the game for 20 years now.

Coaches always seem much smarter from the broadcast booth than they ever did on the sideline. I remember GB getting a ton of criticism for his staff decisions and his stubborn loyalty to them. I remember a lot of criticism for his offense being pedestrian and antiquated in early 2000s. Not that he wasn't an excellent coach who knows his sh!t, but a feature of nostalgia is rose colored glasses.

I didn't know he was that old actually.

I saw an article earlier today from SI that UCLA should ask CP about their position and stay on him until he says, “no.” Apparently he’s a wanted man.

Living around LA, that is the first thing I thought about when Foster got the hook. CP would thrive in Westwood. He would have his own local TV shows, would draw a lot of local talent away from USC and their budget is enormous. CU would get a big payout. It would be a good outcome of the situation, without a negative spin on CU, meaning a talented coach could be brought in easily now that their is a NIL program in place. Just need a talented coach

Urban would be an amazing hire. Bruins would be the top team in LA within 1-2 years and be one of the nation's elite programs within 3-4. They already sold their soul when they broke the Pac. May as well go all in.

I wonder if he’d develop health problems there too.
