That is not how childhood hero's are suppose to go. What a shame.

Suicide is a tough phenomenon to confront. Apparently, as a mental health issue, it is usually a several month crisis - and there are moments of acute crisis. I think anyone familiar with suicide would recognize the pattern in his last few weeks, months and days.

If you feel that you are starting to seriously think about suicide, you may be at the brink of a several month battle; go get help before the acute crisis hits, there's absolutely no shame in asking for help, we all need reinforcements from time to time.

Does anyone else remember that a few years back he sold his Heisman ring at auction? I thought back then: you wouldn't do that unless you were really low, unless you really needed the money. IIRC, Buffs 4 Life tried to fundraise and purchase the ring for display at Dal Ward to keep it in the family, but didn't have the high bid. So very sad.

Allegedly. They say that Salaam denied it. Salaam was suffering at that point, and that's all we may ever know.
