Julmisse arrested Thursday, court appearance Friday - dismissed from the team

I was wrong about it being a couple of days before she reported it. Nevertheless, in the article this morning it states she claimed he "tried" to push her down the stair. I'd imagine that if a football player had wanted to push a woman down a stair he would have little trouble doing so.

Yep.

I posted the following on Scout last night and will repeat it here:

I'd just like to point out that he's a D1 college football player who is in peak physical condition. I'm a 6'4" 260 lb man and if Anthony Julmisse wanted to throw me down the stairs I would be thrown down the stairs. Let's be real here. If he had any inclination to hurt her or lost control at all, she would have ended up in the hospital. That did not happen.

Man, this thread has (predictably) spun out of control. The recency of the Tumpkin situation has certainly cast a temporary shadow over the program, but from the information we have, it seems that all parties will come out of this with lessons learned but no serious punishment.

I was a college athlete in the late 00s in the Pac-10/12, and don't have enough fingers and toes to count the times I saw situations like this – reported and unreported. 18-21 year olds can be mature, but they can also be emotional and idiotic. As an athlete you have to be cautious with the tangled relationship webs you weave and succumbing to the stardom, but AJ seems to have only made a minor mistake here. Only saying this because there is very little sign of any physical abuse and I'm actually not sure what rationalized the accuser's calling of 911 when she was not under any imminent threat and had already left the premise at one point.

There's a double standard that men have to live with, but it's because we haven't been historically marginalized like women have, that's just life. Prediction: 3-game suspension and strong performances in league play from AJ.

Side-note: y'all remember that girl who "broke" into a house in the non-frat part of the hill a number of years back and was shot in the hip? The quest for utopia in Boulder causes any story to get blown out of proportion.

Honestly, I think he's toast. I really hope I'm wrong. It has nothing to do with what he did, it has everything to do with optics.

Remember, the optics of how MM handled the Tumpkin case were bad, even though he did everything he was supposed to. CU is far more worried about perception than justice.

If Mac throws him under the bus for this, one, he risks losing the team and, two, he sets a precedent he will have to live with down the road. "If a pissed off girl calls the cops on you and has you arrested, your off the team. And that's that."

This just occurred to me. He contacted that internal office that he should've contacted in the Tumpkin case. I think he may be deferring the decision to them. That makes me a bit nervous.
 
No matter the optics of the Tumpkin situation, innocent young men can't be punished because of those optics.
Anthony Julmisse should be afforded the same rights as any other University student. Period. If he's guilty, he should pay the price. If he's not guilty, he should not be treated any different than he would have prior to the Tumpkin bungling.

This would open up a huge can of worms. You don't make an example out of a 19 year old kid who really did nothing wrong, just because the school screwed up in the past dealing with a real, adult abuser.

I know, and I guess it wouldn't surprise me, but I'm banking on the fact that Mac is a high character, moral man who truly cares for his players and will fight hard for one of them in a situation like this.

Ultimately, I really doubt it will be MM's decision.
 
I'd say if the courts don't find him guilty there should be no disciplinary actions.

If this has already occurred, forgive my ignorance.
 
To be clear, MacIntyre DID do something wrong in Tumpkin situation, as did Tumpkin obviously.

Not sure that will have a lot of bearing on the Julmisse situation.
 
My only concern is that if that "office of internal affairs," or whatever they are called, is deferred to, that they have a strong bias in favor of the woman.
 
So AJ admits to grabbing the girl by the arm to escort her out. The woman says the same. So that's not in dispute.

Out here in CA, that's a battery. That's the letter of the law. So like it or not, if the definition of battery over in CO is the same as over here, he is guilty of domestic violence since they had a dating relationship at one point.

So while it's not exactly the crime of the century, he isn't "innocent" like I've read in a post of two on here. Quite the opposite, actually. And given the current culture at CU, that bodes extremely bad for AJ.

Actually I have no problem if they have a strong bias in favor of the woman. My concern is if they have an unreasonable bias against the man because he is an athlete. In the past we have seen some decisions that at least had that look to them.

I grab my wife's arm to escort her places every day. Same thing with my 8 year old. I guess I should be in jail. :confused:
 
And his current GF was in his apartment. There is a case for him trying to protect her. I think his concern that his former GF would go after his current GF is legit. Sounds like he was trying to diffuse the situation before it got out of hand. I hope he has an attorney at his hearing.

Cmon man those are completely different things. I doubt you grab your wife against her will and physically move her around.

I would if she had lost her **** and was trying to trespass somewhere or potentially assault someone. And she'd thank me for it after she calmed down.
