Here are my keys for the Buffs season.
#1. Improved QB play. The Buffs have to at least get enough out of the QB position that will help keep the opposing QBs honest. IMO, if Cody starts then CU is in trouble. Hanson has more upside but has to reach that potential.
#2 Improved Oline play. The Buffs have talent and experience in the offensive line but last year never played as a cohesive unit.
#3 Pressure on the opposing QB. The last few years the lack of any real pressure on the QB allowed opposing QBs to pick apart the Buff defense. It does not matter how good your dbs are, they can only cover for a few seconds even at the pro level.
#4 Improved turnover margin. The Buffs have not been very opportunistic under "Hawk" . Colorado ranked 97th in turnover margin in 2009. Not good.
#5 Better intensity...I really do not have a good way of verbalizing this but CU took too many plays off last year. The team was inconsistent from series to series. Mental mistakes, whatever.
#6 Improved Special teams - you cannot survive on pathetic special teams play. Very seldom did CU "flip the field" by stellar Special teams play. Lets not even talk about FG kicking.
#7 Improved rushing - you cannot keep the pressure off your QB rushing for 88 yards a game.
There are a lot more things but if CU can improve in these areas they have a chance to have a decent season.
